I know everyone here at Hatrack will help Toby.
If you’d rather help Hannah, my cat, from going to the local Chinese restaurant please send me your paypal payment!
Thanks!

oh my .... that is just........ : shakes head :

Did you see the current balance of what people have sent this guy? (if that is even for real)

Posted by Jay (Member # 5786) on :

I know! It is so funny. I wonder if he’s counting sales from hats and t-shirts and what not?
He should be it on ebay too. That always seems to generate some news if it gets pulled!
Think anyone out there has really given anything?

Posted by The Pixiest (Member # 1863) on :

what astounds me is he's already made $13k

Why am I working again? I could make more threatening the lives of defenceless bunnies.

Will Dag stand by and let an innocent bunny suffer? [Razz]

P.S. According to Alexa, this page is getting some serious traffic.

I thought it was gonna be someone who read Karyn's book. This is even more pathetic, I think.

Maybe he actually wants the $50K to clone Toby?

With all the hatrackers looking at it of course it is!
We could stage a denial of service attack on our own!
We have the power. Now… if we could just agree on a leader to be our voice.
I nominate OSC as our Speaker.

Poor, poor Toby. [Cry]

edit: This is the most brilliant thing I've ever seen in my life.

"Moroccan Hare Tagine - Ingredients:

Toby."

I hear Rabbit tastes a lot like chicken.

Can anyone verify?

[Razz]

Dags! That is my all-time favorite cartoon! Gosh, they don't make 'em like that anymore!

Alligator tastes like chicken but feels like beef in texture.

You've got to love the internet, a place where people give you money for merely being clever.

Exactly how many alligators have you "felt," Dagonee?

[Razz]

I want a Save Toby hoodie...

I'm not going to encourage him, though.

Okay, the guy who started that website...just exactly how is he different from the little kids in the neighborhood who used to torture squirrels?

Sick b@stard.

I did little google search. It seems the person behind save toby simply copied the idea from a German. Save Bernd

Couldn't this be animal cruelty?

It seems Europeans aren't as gullible as Americans.

I'm not sure how, if he treats it well until he kills it. It's not illegal to eat bunnies.

If he's breaking any law, it's probably related to the solicitation of "donations."

It's like blackmail or something. I KNOW it isn't illegal to eat bunnies, but this is just...wrong.

I'm not sure about the 'gullibility' factor. I'd consider buying a shirt simply because it made me laugh. It's probable that the majority of his money raised is from merchandise sold, and it's probable that people are buying his merchandise for the exact same reason I would consider doing so.

And, for what it's worth, I don't think this guy has any real intention of killing this bunny. I wouldn't be surprised if it's a friend's pet.

Mack, I am not touching that one...was that comment directed at Dag? [Evil]

I agree. I'm just wondering how you criminalize this without criminalizing a lot of other stuff. "Do the dishes or I'll eat the last donut" is only different in the nature of the threat and the number of people being threatened.

Ralphie, there are "Save Bernd" things, too, but the guy doesn't have nearly as much money...

Yeah, but I don't think it's because American's are more easily emotionally manipulated. I think people think it's funny, not that they're truly saving Toby.

Wonder if he'll share his Toby dish?
Some of those look yummy

I have not the words for my reaction to this thread.

Good God.

S'a bunny. He's threatening a bunny for cash. It's deplorable, and wrong, so why am I laughing my ass off?

(bad bunbun! bad, horrible, naughty bunbun!)

Bunbun
the self hating

Aren't there rules about holding bunnies for ransom?

This is the oddest thing I've ever seen.

I hope the money will at least go to something at least a tiny bit worthwhile (an education, for example).

[Eek!] [Roll Eyes]

Interesting.
Maybe he can teach us a class on how to make $50,000 dollars off the net.
Either that or a course on bunny recipes!

Easy money, OK, but a free lunch, I think not. After all, this guy has put his name and address on teh Intarwebnets, where any number of mad PETA loonies can find him. He may find the price of a bunny dinner higher than he cares to pay.

Posted by newfoundlogic (Member # 3907) on :

Actually I don't see his name or address anywhere on the site.

Posted by Scythrop (Member # 5731) on :

I think that like most things in life, you can trust Buffy the Vampire Slayer to provide some insight into the guy's motivations...
