So... I just tried to start a new video project, and my mac wouldn't read the camera, so I tried my other camera, a different cord, going through a Pyro A/V Link... nothing worked, so i broke down and got out my camera's manuel to see if there was some small detail that I had spaced. There wasn't, so i decided to turn the computer off and then back on. When I got logged back in, I only had one Hard drive icon. Apparently I have magically lost a hard-drive. I mean It's still there (I looked), but my computer isn't reading it either... Grrrr... I blame all of those Happy couples, they are using up more than there fair of happiness so the universal Karma decided to make my Mac very Unhappy to help keep the universe in balance.... O-well, I'm taking it in tomorrow to get it looked at.

Edit: I forgot to spell check

Tyler, Tyler, Tyler -- search for SMARTReporter on versiontracker, and keep it running in the background (look in its preferences).

It may be able to give you some information on the current drive, but it'll likely warn about future failures as well.

As for the current drive, have you scanned it with disk utility?

Disk utility isn't ackknowledging that the drive exsists...

Is the drive powered? Even if you think it is, might as well make sure the power and SATA (or ATA) connectors are plugged in securely.

all of the connections are mad, i can hear it running, but the software just decided to ignore it...

Its highly unlikely its software related, Tyler. Hard drives are flakey things.

"all of the connections are mad"

Well, there's your problem. You need to keep them happy.

I wouldn't give up on the drive until you run something like DiskWarrior, especially if the drive isn't making any unusual noises. It's entirely possible that it just needs a quick scan to remind the OS that it's there.

If it's making funky noises, though, it's hosed. [Razz]

no noise, but disk Warrior can't find it either... I think I'm going to just take it in tomorrow.
