...so says westeros.org.

I will not believe it until I hear the news from GRRM, Parris, or Ran. But given that westeros.org is Ran's site, maybe we can trust this. Off to investigate GRRM's home page and poke about the ezboard to see who this "regular" is.

The thread on the ezboard. I don't recognise this "regular", but then I haven't lurked the ezboard in a while.

I will not be lured into a false hope.
Plus, I know that when it comes out, I will finish it quickly, and then have to suffer terribly while waiting for him to write the next one.
Authors.

I'll believe it when it's announced on Martin's site.

It usually takes several months for an author's finished manuscript to actually get published, so even if GRRM were to finish the book today, I'd be surprised if it were out this summer.

(I'm hoping for fall, though! [Smile] )

If it happens at all this year, I'll be surprised and pleased.

I think it will be done this year (him finishing, not necessarily published). He seems REALLY close when you read his website. A few more chapters and some more re-writing. *crosses fingers*

fil, Boston seems close if you are in Philadelphia, and have driven from California.

I'm just sayin.'

If I'm not mistaken, he's been really close to finishing for over a year now.

I'll believe it when I see a solid date from Martin.

My local bookstore had a sign that stated the same release date. Of course, they might have just gotten the date from Amazon, but I do not think they do that.

I have more than thirteen hundred pages in final draft form and another hundred or so in roughs or fragments, but there are still some chapters yet to write.
Does this mean that the next book will come out in less time? Books aren't usually 1300 pages +. So some of the material will probably get scrapped or go to the next book.

Manuscript pages do not necessarily translate into published pages.

And how would you know?

Wait.....nevermind.

[Big Grin]

( I WAS really kidding, you know, just so you know, and I know you know, and....)

((nevermind...again))
