Rush Meets the Troops in Afghanistan

Dude, seriously-- find a site that has more advertising.

From the banner ad linked to this "NewsMax" site:
quote:
And then he told me step-by-step exactly how he attracted women to him, and how I could do the same. As he talked, I realized he had truly, “cracked the code” and that attracting women was nothing more than a paint-by-numbers, step-by-step, brain-dead simple process. It works for every man because you are already born with natural attraction that is genetically designed to “flip on” the biological attraction triggers in women. It can’t not work.

I put his secrets to work the very next day with one of the seminar attendees (an attractive real estate investor named Kat), and I was astounded by the results. We had an amazing time, and I still keep in touch with her to this very day. His secrets not only worked, they worked better than he said they did!

Rush Limbaugh
quote:
"I can talk about them on the radio program as you do and we salute them and so forth," he told Hedgecock. "But I just felt so small compared to these people standing before them."
Considering Rush's... weight status, I found that line really really funny. They have to be some big soldiers to make Rush feel small. Lesser hack commentators have been known to get sucked in by his gravitational pull.

Yes, since Rush has lost a bunch of weight and is around 190 now.

You know, this just shows that you speak from ignorance. Rush lost alot of weight several years ago. He is not nearly as big as you seem to remember him. He is a tall guy anyway, but he is no longer fat, as you seem to remember him.

However, I do not think Rush was talking about physical size. I have a feeling that he was talking about something more than that.

Sorry, I don't keep up on my Rush Limbaugh pant sizes. Although it makes sense that he's lost weight, considering all the drugs he's been using.

I could say something here that would offend everyone, liberals and conservatives all.

But I won't.

But boy, am I laughing.

That's right, don't let any facts get in the way of your slander. [Smile]

Look, I consider Rush Limbaugh to be an irrelevant voice when it comes to serious politics. He's like Michael Moore and Paul Begala on our side, but with a bigger audience. I think he (along with Sean Hannity and some others) is a pompous, disgusting, and dishonest ass. So you'll forgive me if don't salute my flag and wipe away a tear when I hear that he went to Afghanistan and told all the soldiers how much he appreciates their sacrifice (not forgetting to mention that all the Democrats hate them, of course.)

Yeah, it would be funny to see Michael Moore in Afghanistan!

Posted by IdemosthenesI (Member # 862) on :

That's my point. It doesn't matter! IIRC, Moore DID go to Iraq to shoot scenes for F911, but I don't care. It doesn't make any difference. Rush, Hannity, Moore, Begala, these are names of entertainers. Their job is not to inform you about the issues, it's to make you feel good about what you already believe without expanding your knowledge at all, demonize the other side, and make lots of money. I hold their political opinions about as high as I hold the opinions of Mel Gibson or Sean Penn. It's irrelevant.

|d|-- Just admit that you made a mistake while making a joke. No big deal. Don't defend it, don't try to play it off-- just say you messed up, apologize, and move on.

You'll be a better person for it.

Personally, I find Rush deplorable.

Interesting. Do you listen to talk radio much? They generally talk about current events. I stay very well informed on the day’s news by listening to them. Sure they talk about issues and sometimes even have debates on their show. Sean Hannity has guests from the other side of the aisle on his show all the time. They’ll discuss the topic, debate it, and share opinions. So I’m not sure you are correct when you say they don’t expand your knowledge. Anyway…. Just thought I’d share some of my experiences and how I feel I have benefited from listening.

Oh, I readily admit that I mistakenly characterised Limbaugh as obese when he, in fact, only formerly obese. I thought I had already conceded that. However, I take a certain amount of pride in the fact that I couldn't pick Rush Limbaugh out of a lineup. When I said thiis is irrelevant, I wasn't talking about Rush's weight. I was talking about Rush in general, and the others I mentioned.

Well, if "debate" is the correct word for what they do on Hannity, then I'm fairly sure the word has lost all meaning. Those "debates" are generally a mix between loaded question, interruptions, and reactionary snap judgements. When they talk about "current events" they do so in a manner that always portrays their side in an angelic light and always portrays their rivals as demons. They jump on any potential scandal from the other side, and dismiss without consideration any criticism of their side. It can be entertaining to listen to, but informative? No.

quote:

Reporting on his own show to EIB fill-in host Roger Hedgecock, Limbaugh said U.S. forces are "just doing the Lord's work over here."

Is he referring to God or Bush or the country here? This is just one of those comments that, given the context, I find humorous on the one hand and really scary on the other.

Also, when did Limbaugh become a Christian? I'm aware his brother is one, but what church does Rush go to?

Edited to be more objective.

I think Rush is catholic. Not positive on this one. But I’m pretty sure.

I’m really glad he’s over there to support the troops and thank them for their work. This is Afghanistan. Everyone agrees that was right to do, correct?

Let's put it this way, is there any possibility, any at all, that Rush would say anything other than what he said about and to the troops? I don't think so. I guess this makes his thanks ring a little hollow for me.

Also, he did this on the air. This makes it a little self serving to me.

Huh?
I have no idea what you're talking about.... ..... so here's a bunny with a pancake on its head.

RODGER HEDGECOCK is filling in for Rush??? That right-wing goon? [Eek!]

I still have not forgiven Rodger for a comment he made at the end of the 1996 Presidential election. He said that Clinton had purposefully kept overseas military servicemen's votes from being counted. "I don't know how," he said, "but he did it."

Talk about not letting the facts get in your way... [Roll Eyes]

Yeah, me too. Yes, I do listen to Rush. It's amazing what you can get away with saying on the radio when you have a closed audience.

Umm.. Jay... why would anyone care that Rush met with the troops?

Celebs go to meet the troops all the time. Are you trying to say "See, Rush isn't such a bad guy?" when no one (until this thread) had impuned him to my knowlege.

I dunno. I just see the thread as irrelevant.

Posted by Storm Saxon (Member # 3101) on :

Yep.

Yep - If I remember correctly, Al Franken did a gig for the troops last year as well. He also made sure he did nonpolitical standup comedy material. But Franken going to visit troops is as irrelevant as Limbaugh going to visit them.

Long way of saying, I agree with pixiest. [Wink]
