A while ago, we did a game where people would sent very short stories to dkw through email, and dkw would post them while the rest of us critiqued it, and guessed who it was based on writing style. I'd like to start that up again, and I have no problem recieving and posting the stories.

Send the stories and your name to smokingman@gmail.com, and once we have a good enough group, I'll start posting them.

Note: when you copy something from Word to email, some of the characters like apostrophes and the like get turned into weird letters. I advise you to go through it in your email to make sure it all looks good. I will do the same before posting.

Oh, cool! I loved this game!

Me too! I still have the thingy I stole from saxon to help with figuring out who it is!

I'm in! I was just thinking fondly of this game a week or so ago.

You want full stories, or just excerpts?

btw, give credit where credit is due. This was originally Slash's baby at GreNME. Now, dkw ran with it and made it so much bigger, but I thought that was worth mentioning.

(Where HE stole it from I have no idea. [Smile] )

I didn't participate last time... maybe if I have time to write something, I'll join in too. [Smile] But someone will have to go over the rules for me!

Do we play this game here or do we have to go somewhere else to play?

Posted by Billy Joel (Member # 5357) on :

Participate here. And I'm talking about 1-5ish paragraphs (though Im not going to set that up as a guideline, just an example). Yeah, it was slashs baby.

I'm not much fo a writer. But I'll try and guess on other people.

Yeah, you don't have to write a story to critique others. If you want to write a story, go for it.

I'm going to play as well, although I won't be able to send in my piece until this weekend at the soonest. (I was just looking over some old stuff that still on my computer at home and thought "Hey, this would make a good 'Guess the Author' piece.")

I was thinking about this too! I love GAG! Should we do more like a Lucky 13, where you just turn in the first 13 lines of the work?

Posted by Leonide (Member # 4157) on :

Weird! I was just thinking about the last game and how my excerpt never got shown but that I was happy cause it wasn't very good and it was obvious it was me!

I'm so playing!

Give us a deadline, Nate-O Potato. I can't produce without a deadline.

Bump

Ok... deadline? March 13th.

Has it been decided how much work we're talking? You said 1-5 paragraphs, but is it a complete very short story, or an excerpt from something longer, or the 13 lines idea, or any of the above...?

You decide. I would recommend that you have a somewhat beginning and an ending of the scene, and enough for the reader to be interested.

Edit:
Actually, scratch that. Have it any way you like, but remember, the reader is going to be critiquing the piece- if they find it boring, or confusing, they will tell you, but they will also tell you what they did like.

I've submitted my piece.

Edit: Oh, oops. Nate, I sent it to your old hotmail account. Need me to resend?

I'd love to read some stories, but I'm terrible at writing. Sometimes I can be too dramatic... or pornographic. Like this one time when I wrote a paragraph about a pizza...

A Question:

Can I just know for sure who BillyJoel is?

T_Smith

I would appreciate a resend, mostly for my organization/horrible memory, Mike.

[Eek!] Are you landmark-avoiding?

No, just lazy.

If you said goodbye to me tonight
There would still be music left to write...

Sorry. Now you may begin to see what my problem is. Though seriously, that was one of your more better works.

And I will be entering this time. :Goes off to look:

:bump:

This had fallen to the 2nd page.

Oh, and Utah- :tries to think of a line from Point Break:
"get me 2"
