I've never done one of these threads before, but I couldn't help it. I have big news that I want to share with the whole world. [Big Grin] (Plus, Narnia told me to keep her updated. [Wink] ) Ready?

As of today, I have a new major! I got accepted into the Secondary Music Education-Choral Emphasis program at BYU. I'm floating.

A little background for those of you who don't know me: This has been a long road for me. It was my third time applying for the program, and you can only apply once a year. After my last rejection--two years ago--I was basically done. I declared a Humanities major with a music emphasis, and planned on pursuing Music Education in grad school. However, last semester I had a professor for sight singing that told me he thought I should be in the undergraduate program and wanted me to audition again. It was tough putting together an audition and an application so quickly, but I did it. The waiting was agony. The letter came today. I won't graduate until December 2007, but I don't care! [Big Grin]

Nice! Congratulations. Umm, I *may* know what it's like to switch majors late and take forever to graduate. Don't worry! You're not alone! *goes off to do homework for her 56th undergrad class in her 7th (8th? I've lost track) major*

yay Jennie!!!

Not to rag on your self-promotion, but I think it's fitting -- This week I turned in my application to the Theatre Department. Also a very long road for me -- I originally applied to BYU as an English major, played around with Middle Eastern Studies and Communications, found the Theatre program and haven't wanted to leave since. I reason that my proposed emphasis in Critical Studies of Theatre is not too dissimilar from my original English Major, and it's hecka lot more fun. [Smile]

Congratulations! That's quite an accomplishment, it had to take some dedication and not a small amount of courage to apply again - good for you for knowing what you want and going after it!

sarcastic muppet - congrats to you too!

I would talk about my change of major...but it would be a long story and don't want to clutter up this happy thread. [Smile]

Thanks, everyone! [Smile] I appreciate the thoughtful words. It doesn't quite seem real yet...I keep getting surprised when I see the letter on my desk.

Ashley, good luck with yours. I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for you! When do you find out?

*dances* YAYAY!!! *hugs Jennie and knocks her over*

I am so proud of you dearheart! You are going to rock, I just know it! And 2007 really isn't that far away. [Smile]

(Let me know when you're gearing up to student teach...you probably know more people around there than I do, but I have a great lady in mind for you in Brigham City. She's just amazing.)

Anyway, Congrats and thanks for the update!!! This really is a big fat deal!! [Big Grin]
