I guess everyone feels like this about their first car.
Meet Brutus: Brutus is a 1997 Chevy Cavalier with four doors and four cylinders. Brutus has a lot of kilometres, but runs beautifully.
He's a bit gender-confused, though. I keep referring to him as "her." Like how ships are always female. Poor Brutus.

Brutus is a family tradition. Every car but the first that my mother has ever owned has been called Brutus. "Go, Brutus, Go!" is a common cry when trying to make a tight entrance into traffic. I even call cars that aren't mine Brutus, if I'm driving them.

EDIT: Sometimes, the Little Green Car is called the Green Buzzer, from Rupert Books. But that's only in moments of spectuacular brilliance.
I actually think Brutus suits that particular car, though .

Not me. Mine was a powder blue '85 Ford Escort G (probably a GL, but the L had fallen off). The air conditioner didn't work, it didn't have power steering, the radio (and I use this term loosely) didn't work. I hated Old Bess with every fiber of my being and I was thrilled when she finally died on the highway.
While all cars are female, it is permissible in certain cases to give your car a male name. The best example of this is the General Lee. However, she should still be referred to as she.
Our current cars are Big Red (Ford Taurus) and Dreadnought (Toyota Corolla).
Congratulations on the new car, btw. May she carry you safely for many years.

This made me laugh heartily.
Whitey, my first car, was a 1967 Dodge Polara with questionable brakes. Now, it would be a cool. An antique. In 1981, when all my wealthy classmates had brand new cars, it was not cool. Nope. I, like Mrs. M, prayed for its demise daily.
In Europe, cars are male. (At least in Swedem and Germany)
Also, I have always felt that Brutus was overcompensating.

Cars are most certainly not all male in Europe. When staying with my family in Ayr it was suggested we go for a ride in my cousin Keith's car. Uncle John looked aghast and informed us that under no circumstances would we touch that car, as "it's Keith's *woman*".

Well. The Volvo has the male symbol as its logo, that is where I first learned of this. Then someone told me that cars are male(and ships, too, I think?) in Germany.

Oh, my car is named, "Schpep."
"Schpep" is a word my friends and I gave to the gunk on the bottom of of the lid of jars of salsa con queso and other, similar canned foods.

The fan blows fine. Before he handed her over to me, my mechanic/dealer (he does both, it's very handy) tore off the whole air conditioning and fixed it. It was making a sound that was bugging him. He also replaced the ignition. And it came with new tires and brakes.

I loved all my Cavaliers. I think my actual first car was (*gulp) a red Reliant K from my mother. From then on out for many years, it was Cavaliers, baby. And, like PC, I worked on them myself. Got so that I'd save the main parts from each one when it died so I'd have spares for the next one.

My first car was a 1990 Dodge Dynasty - "the Nasty". Not a bad car for my first. I paid cash $3,000.00 for it. It only had 90,000 miles on it. Really good for at the time a ten year old car. It went through some tough times (South Carolina rusted the hood latch to HE!!, which caused it to fly up on the freeway and smash my windshield), and I eventually got rid of it. Well actually, I sold it to my parents who set their own price for it (the same amount I paid)and then it was given to my sister. Mind you a parts car was bought to repare it before she drove it.
I have not named my current trucks. My Dodge I call "My Baby." My Chevy I call "My Older Baby."
Which my Baby now has a brand new truck cap on her. She looks so nice.
