Hey.

I currently have two desktop computers in my home. Both of which are connected to the internet, one through a wireless router to the other.

I have just bought a labtop. Plugged it in. Ran through the installation. Entered the "Wireless Connection" page. See a list of 2 networks -- yet my personal home network is not on there!

Any ideas? This is a matter of some urgency, as I need to transfer some files to the labtop today.

What wireless protocols are you using on your router and your laptop? More importantly, is your wireless router broadcasting a SSID? If not, you're going to need to know it.

Destop: 802.11b

(On the Desktop internet Wirless Lan Monitor Utility, in SSID it says "Any."

Is your main internet line (the one that goes to the "outside world") going through the router, or through one of the computers (which is then connected to the router which is used by the other computer wirelessly to connect to the first computer)?

Basically, which is true:

code:

INTERNET -> Router
             /  \
         Comp1  Comp2

OR:

code:

INTERNET -> Comp1 -> Router -> Comp2
                            ^
                            |-- Wireless connection

Okay, two things:

1) It's a laptop, not a labtop. [Smile]

2) In the configuration you've diagrammed for us, your desktop PC is completely irrelevant to this discussion. We need to know how your router is configured. Are you familiar with how to access your router's configuration page in a web browser?

Here's a good question, are your other computers connected to the router with cables, or are they actually working with Wireless Ethernet? Cause if you're hooked in with cables on the other computers, you need to tell the router to actually broadcast a wireless network signal. To do that you have to access your router directly.
