I was at Walgreen's last night when I ran across this lovely item.

Of course I had to buy it.

I want to was sarcastic about the appropriateness of this item, about keeping Christ in Easter, about making guilt an important part of your children's lives . . . but words simply fail me.

[Eek!]

It was on the news last night. Apparently it's a big seller in Mexico and Latin America, so they thought it would sell well here, and are surprised at the response. [Roll Eyes] Don't these people do market research? There's a long tradition of sweets shaped in sacred shapes in Mexico, but here, the culture is largely influenced by the "idol"-hating Puritan tradition. *sigh*

Speaking of tacky Christian artifacts at Walgreens, has anyone else seen those "mood ring"-style crosses that apparently, when warmed by your body heat, wind up displaying the tortured body of Christ in neon green?

If they used communion with that, I bet everyone'd get a better turnout.

Tom, please, please tell me you made that up.

Please.

I don't know if I can take it if that is true.

I can't tell 'cause it's moving too fast.

Is that dashboard Jesus flipping the double deuce?

Icarus,

At least it's not actually got an image of Jesus ON the chocolate cross. I'm just imagining the challenge of, you know, the equivalent of biting the ears off the chocolate bunny first...would kids try to bite through...Oh never mind.

But what kind of message would this send if, for example, your folks cheaped out and bought the HOLLOW one???

[Eek!]

Imagine the kids' disappointment.

And here I felt sacrilegious when I explained that on Easter Christ comes out of his tomb and if he sees his shadow it means we have six more weeks of heathenism before salvation.

Jesus helps you work out your road rage!

Let Jesus say it for you!

Hey, when the rapture comes, does your bobblehead get to go with you?

pssst . . . Bob . . . AIM.

Posted by Bob_Scopatz (Member # 1227) on :

Sorry, I killed my AIM account. It's a blasted thing that should be expunged from the universe.

Nope, no AIM.

Which is why I always ended up having to mop the bathroom floor, but that's a whole 'nother story.

Eh. If it's just to chat, I'd wait until tomorrow.

Okay.

Is he offline there?

Too bad . . . I was waiting to see his response to my m-w thread.

Posted by dkw (Member # 3264) on :

I had chocolate crosses every Easter as a child. I never thought twice about it. None of you have seen them before?
