I'm not cruel enough to bump That Thread, but I had to share this. [ROFL]

Is that saying that someone actually put it in a script?

Posted by An Elf (Member # 7650) on :

It is from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Of this I am certain. I can't find it in writing any where, but I did watch the movie just to prove to myself that I was right... which I am.

The ultimate in internet-based viruses.

Posted by Teshi (Member # 5024) on :

Somebody has to put this in a history book.

Posted by rivka (Member # 4859) on :

Or a wikipedia article. [Big Grin]

Posted by Teshi (Member # 5024) on :

Is there one?

Posted by rivka (Member # 4859) on :

Doesn't seem to be.

Yet.

Where is Thalia?

Posted by Wowbagger the Infinitely Prolonged (Member # 7476) on :

NO...We got rid of this virus. But it would be funny if a MEME started here managed to get added to a movie script.

Posted by Teshi (Member # 5024) on :

It wasn't started here, was it? We were just one of the early places where it manifested?

Posted by jebus202 (Member # 2524) on :

It's awesome seeing yourself quoted on google.

Posted by rivka (Member # 4859) on :

Teshi, the evidence indicates fairly strongly that the meme (or at least the internet manifestation of it) started at Hatrack.

Posted by Teshi (Member # 5024) on :

Are you serious?

That's kind of awesome! In an evil way...

Posted by jebus202 (Member # 2524) on :

I would make a bet that that isn't true.

Posted by rivka (Member # 4859) on :

*nod* So say the people who were actually here (I haven't been around long enough) when the question was first raised by Thalia. Back then, Google produced nothing.

Now, it does . . . and most appearances can be traced back fairly easily to here. [Evil]

*sings* We started a meme . . . !

*intrigued* Huh, I guess I was actually around (although a rarely-posting newbie) when this all started.

Hey, I was here for a Hatrack Historical Event! [Big Grin]

Posted by Teshi (Member # 5024) on :

World Historical Event, rivka. World.

Posted by rivka (Member # 4859) on :

Hatrack is the world, neh? [Wink]

I can't believe it's still going strang after all this time. It would be even funnier if both Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy has it in their movies.

Hatrack is the root of everything.

We shall rule the world! [Evil Laugh]

*giggles madly*

oh how I love and hate that quote...

Posted by rivka (Member # 4859) on :

"Shall" nothing!

We already do -- we're just subtle about it.

Posted by Teshi (Member # 5024) on :

Somebody ought to make a Wikipedia entry for Hatrack, too.

But then there's this thread:
quote:
Page 157 of EG, Author's Definitive Edition:

Ender: "So, what does it do?"

Bean: "That's the beauty of it, it doesn't do anything!"

So. Is it? I don't have my copy of Ender's Game, and I definitely don't have the Author's Definitive Edition, and sad me, I didn't know there WAS an Author's Definitive Edition, so I can't verify. Yes? Oder nay?

I'm pretty sure Jebus was joking.

Posted by quidscribis (Member # 5124) on :

Dang! I was hoping to stir things up a bit (more)!
