Through means devious, arcane, and just a little bit sneaky, I have acquired Somebody's High School Yearbook Photo. Ah, but can you tell who it is?

Or, for that matter, who am I?
Curiouser and curiouser.

Of the Hatrackers I've seen, I'd say it's Bob_Scopatz.

Posted by breyerchic04 (Member # 6423) on :

I'm hoping this picture was taken in the 70s just from how it looks, so what male hatracker graduated in the 70s?

Trevor did not, he was more likely born then, and I don't think it would be considered sneaky because I believe Megan went to high school with him. So hmmm Bob_Scopatz is a possibility, in which case I'd say our poster is possibly someone with the last name Williams.

Posted by ClaudiaTherese (Member # 923) on :

I immediately thought "Bob Scopatz." He still sports exactly the same grin.

Posted by Eruve Nandiriel (Member # 5677) on :

I thought Bob_Scopatz, too.
But I can't guess anyone for sure, since I've never met a Hatracker in person.

Posted by Megan (Member # 5290) on :

I actually went to college w/Trevor, not high school (just for the sake of clarification! [Big Grin] ).

Posted by twinky (Member # 693) on :

My next guess at Enigmatic's identity is prolixshore.

(I agree with the people who say that the photo does bear a resemblance to Bob_Scopatz, but the basis for my guessing is the signature in the initial post. We'll come to actual *logic* a little bit later in my thought process. [Wink] )

Posted by breyerchic04 (Member # 6423) on :

oh well, you'd still guess if it was him, which it doesn't appear to be (though I've only seen one pic)

Posted by Cow-Eating Man (Member # 4491) on :

Her blog indicates that Enigmatic is female. Possibly involved with someone named "Dan" and into math.

Of course, that's assuming this person is hosting the image.

When I saw the pic, Bob immediately came to mind, without seeing other people's response. I'm with CT here, although it could be another Scopatz, like his brother perhaps.

Posted by ClaudiaTherese (Member # 923) on :

But note the title: "Which Hatracker's H S yearbook photo is this? (it could be you)"

Only Bob is a Hatracker from his side of the family, at least in my book. Unless someone has been hiding something for a very very long time. And even so, they'd have to share exactly the same tilt to the nose and variation in depth and position of the indentations at the sides of the smile.

Not Joe. Different nose, different eyes, different eyebrows. Way different mouth -- the left side of Icarus' curves up, as opposed to the right (for Bob.) Completely different face. (Although also compellingly handsome. [Smile] )

Give it up, guys. It's Bob.

Stupid long commute, now look at all these posts. Well...

Though I'm tempted to lie just to see if it results in a shaved head, I won't. Only 17 minutes to a correct answer on the pic. Never underestimate the power of Hatrack. Or of that grin, apparently.

As for some of the guesses about myself:
Someone with a last name of Williams is a smaller category than it was two weeks ago. But I'm not married and I don't have a motorcycle, so that rules out a lot.
"This is the fastest-posting forum EVER!" said my friend who's hosting the pic for me when I sent her this link. So there goes the identify-by-blog theory.
Oh, and I'm not prolixshore, Twinky. You'll never get me using your current method of guessing.

Time to work, cya later.

My vote is Bob, as well. In fact, I thought it was Bob before I ran through the rest of the posts. Didn't even have to see a side-by-side pic. What gave it away were the eyes and smile combo.

One thing this does show, Bob has always been happy. Somehow he must have known he would someday come to Hatrack, meet dkw, and marry her.

Of course if it isn't Bob, I guess I'll make a quiche from the egg dripping from my face. [Wink] Oooo, quiche. Now that could be yummy.

twinky, I want to reassure you. I really do . . .

Posted by twinky (Member # 693) on :

Pictures I am unconcerned about. But it kind of freaks me out that a bunch of people I've never met (but who I like [Smile] ) would discuss me, even tangentially, at a gathering that is almost wholly unrelated to my existence...

At the last hatrack.ca gathering, maybe one or two non-present Hatrackers came up in conversation, and one of those was Baldar, so that doesn't even count. And that was just fine.

Edit: And when I met tt&t, we speculated about the pronunciation of Kama, but IIRC that was more or less it.

*laugh* *patpat* No, we didn't talk about you. I don't remember talking about any Hatrackers that weren't there, except Annie and Hobbes a little bit (all the love around, you see), and Taalcon some (all the religion around).

So, no, we really didn't, although the mental image of twenty Hatrakers poring over pictures of you is too funny to send off without a lamenting sigh.

Their younger brother, yes, but eljay is definitely the little one.

Do you know how long I was holding that pic, waiting for Bob & Dana to be gone on honeymoon? Do you know how many of you asked me "So when are you going to register?" forcing me to bite my tongue and make excuses?

Schemes are hard.

Hmmm - there needs tp be one more added to that hug!

It did always seem odd to me that the parents were both registered before I ever got around to it, considering I've periodically lurked for ages, usually when Dana would send me an interesting thread.
I think "Uruk Haiku" was the first of those.

Nightshade is not registered, though he does often watch my monitor. He doesn't like forums as much as City of Heroes or Milkdrop for Winamp.

Hmmmm. This upsets our balance even further. Pre-wedding it was two family members posting primarily from macs, two from PCs. Now, with wedding and Enigmatic joining, it is two macs to four PCs. Amazing how the rest of the family has such poor taste in computers.
