I just read a few things in my local paper yesterday....and everything in both front page stories I read and the last story in the paper had been covered by Hatrack.

Last month. If not longer.

The largest article was about "conscience clauses" in the medical field. [Big Grin]

Did you hear about the Republican plan to split Texas into 5 states in order to add 8 Republican senators and make the Senate fillibuster-proof?

No, but I did hear about a new study that claims to be able to tell between kids who are going to end up in the legal field and those who are not, by testing them at a very early age. They measure bowel movments of 3 year olds.....

Turns out that those kids who end up with a law degree are already full of sh*t even at that age....

My husband regularly calls me over to tell me about an article he thinks is horrifying, amusing, dumb, etc. I say, "Oh, yeah, read that two days ago" or whatever the appropriate amount of time is, and point him to the discussion of it on Hatrack for my thoughts on the subject. [Big Grin]

( [Wave] at kq)

What a lovely change from post-election vibes. People are relaxing enough to make (funny) jokes.

Oh, and Dag? We have a syrup for that. [Big Grin]

For looking important. Of, course, it's no good without a pipe and a big glasses.

Backup toilet paper?
While this is an excellent ideological reason, one must realise that it poses problems -- as regular toilet paper feels far more pleasant to the tender skin up one's rear than this harsh use of a newspaper: after all, the regular toilet paper needs to be tender enough and rather soft, all in order to actually take the shape of the user's individual rear-anatomy; newspapers' paper does crumple and bend, and those dints caused in the paper's landscape are both too sharp for one's tender areas causing bruises, and may scratch the delicate skin or cause a rough, unpleasant feeling which is - ultimately - excessive friction in the wrong locations.

So, there you go!

That is why it was the BACKUP TP, man.

How intense was your field testing, anyway?

Using newspapers as tissues, which is a rather similar process, excpt your nose isn't as sensitive.

Dag, only an eccentric anarchist with a real grudge against Bush would suggest such a ludicrous plan. [Razz]

JH, you missed the most important reason why that isn't a good idea. Real TP is designed to break down quickly in water and not clog your plumbing. Newspaper is not. Plumbing repairs are messy and/or expensive.

So it's painful to your pocketbook as well as your nether regions.
