I have found evidence that the smurfs were all communist! They had joint property, assighned tasks, and their en emy was an evil man after gold! Sound like capitalism? Here is a link to two essays I found on it.
THE SMURFS SPREAD DISTENTION THROUGH COMMUNISM!!!

They weren't communist. They were for the social reform of capitalism. [Big Grin]

The politically correct term for Marxist/Communist is apparently Post-Colonial.

So, Post-Colonial smurfs...

How is Marxist/communist post colonial. Wouldn't that mean after colonies and isn't capitalism and America after colonies aswell?

It's just what many academics of the Marxist bent prefer to call themselves now. Take a look at course selections and you'll see a few "Post Colonial" studies courses in the humanities.

Just ask the professor then, you'll see.

Sometimes we just change the names of our proclivities and politics to make them a bit more, ummm, genteel.

i.e. The German Democratic Republic for East Germany, or the National Socialists for the Nazis. It's all in the name sometimes... [Dont Know]

Edit to add: Remember that Colonial is something that actually applies to most places on the globe outside of Europe to some degree.

The National Socialists was their name. The german version of that can be abbreviated to Nazi.

Right you are Jebus... but they weren't Socialists by the modern standards and National... their aspirations were more international.

Ah, I see what you're saying. But that wasn't instead of Nazi, that was instead of FASCIST PARTY II.

Pretty much... And Mussolini's Black Shirts really weren't into emulating the future Johnny Cash.. But it sounded much better than the "Do What I Say Or I Smasha Your Face" Party.

Politics 405:

Communism is great....

as long as its Stalinst Communism....

and as long as you get to be Stalin.

Remember, All animals are created equal. Just some animals are more equal than others.

Or as Papa Smurf says--All smurfs are smurfed equal, but some smurfs are more smurfy that others.

Whats funny is in my advanced world studies class we actually watched an episode of the smurfs and went over how they could be seen as communist. The number of communist symbology/similarities was a little disturbing.

"DONNIE DARKO: First of all, Papa Smurf didn't create Smurfette. Gargamel did. She was sent in as Gargamel's evil spy with the intention of destroying the Smurf village, but the overwhelming goodness of the Smurf way of life transformed her."

How does the communist theory assimilate this little tidbit?

More to the point: Was smurfette in Animal Farm?

Uh, "post-colonial studies" means the study of colonial nations (mainly French and British) both while they were colonies and after they became their own nation. It has nothing to do with communisim, unless one of the colonies flirted with communism after achieving independence.

It's a very hot topic right now in the literary and conflict studies fields.

Here's wikipedia's take: post-colonialism
