This is something I thought of in the Favorite Cowboy thread.

Its strange and needs a strange POV, but that fits most people here.

Batman and Superman are two heroic icons, if not Archetypes. Thier like have been seen in other mytho's. My example:

John Wayne is Superman.
Clint Eastwood is Batman.

Explanations should not be necessary. Arguments, disagreements, and fist fights or puddin wrestling are acceptable.

Jean Luc Picard is Superman.
Cisco is Batman.

Galahad is Superman
Robin Hood is Batman
(though a real dark, dangerous Batmanesque Robin Hood would make a great movie)

others?

Great Trevor. It will be weeks before I get that image out of my mind. Dick Cheney in tights and a cape.

Bob is Superman
Dana is Batman
but we really should let them keep their personal life private.

Dan_raven, your BobnDana comment had me fighting not to laugh very, very loudly in my little, little cubicle.

But I think you got the roles reversed. Bob has way more cool gadgets than Dana, whereas Dana seems more likely to possess actual superpowers.

Just wrong, cause it's Christian Bale, now. [Wink]

You know they debated having a Batman vs. Superman movie, but in the end, Batman just wound up being too sympathetic a character. I mean, man vs. god, who do you want to win? The god? Puh-leaze. They also considered Clint Eastwood years ago for the Dark Knight Returns role.

Anyways.

Edward Exley is Superman.
Bud White is Batman.

I also disagree with the John Wayne vs. Clint Eastwood thing. We need someone nicer and more hokey than John Wayne. Someone from 50's and 60's Western shows, but I can't think of any. Some nice sheriff who always wins but just because he's the good guy.

Thinking of more...

Apollo is Superman.
Aries is Batman. (This one is highly debatable, but those are the two that come off the top of my head. Golden boy vs. dark and angry.)

Launcelot is Superman.
Gawain is Batman.

Jimmy Carter is Superman.
Ronald Reagan is Batman. (or was)

This, too, is debatable. I picked Carter because he's just such a nice (though incompetent) guy. Maybe JFK would be better? Maybe JFK is Superman and LBJ is Batman?

Actually, I didn't go with Christian Bale because I didn't feel like looking up who's playing Superman in the upcoming movie for that. The Reeves/Keaton combination has balance that would be lacking if I'd used Bale or Kilmer. (Clooney is ruled out because I prefer not to acknowledge that movie's existence, if possible.)

On the Batman VS. Superman thing: This has been done in the comics more than once. Batman wins every time. (Well, every time I've seen anyway. I can't claim knowledge of all comics ever.) It's not because Batman's the more sympathetic character. It's because Superman's just not that smart, has well-known weaknesses, and doesn't fight as dirty as Batman does.

To keep this post from being completely off point:

Movies are Superman
Graphic Novels are Batman

Yeah, I love it when Bats really trounces Everybody's Favorite Flying Boyscout. Are you talking about Hush, or DKR?

Also, the new Superman is Brandon Routh.

EDIT:

Copland is Superman.
Shostakovitch is Batman.

Random trivia = DC did a comics story before JFK's death where JFK helped Superman protect his identity as Clark Kent -- JFK wore a Clark Kent mask while in the same room as Superman. (As Superman said later: "Who better to trust with my secret than the president of the United States?")
