Whoa, the Nets owned Boston.

And the Heat just squeezed by the Magic.

I'd be afraid, if I were you.

How can Denver beat SA in 6 games. SA has the home court advantage(with the best home record in the league), along with a healthy Tim Duncan now. I dont see it happening.

Denver is 32-8 under George Karl. If they hadn't choked in two of their last thre games, they'd be 6th seed playing against Seattle. SA will win if Denver continues to choke, but recent history doesn't look that way.

A better coach doesn't offset a better team. And Poppovich(sp?) is a fine coach.

The spurs 72% record for the season is pretty comparable to the Nuggets 80% record in the second half. Note also that the Spurs are 38-3 at home.

Detroit is going all the way again this year! With no hockey, we have to do something to amuse ourselves. Might as well root for basketball.

Shaq is only questionable on game 1 I think.

I think Zo can hold out for at least 1 game.

Posted by Lyrhawn (Member # 7039) on :

Detroit has issues getting started in a game. I agree they should have done better against the Pacers. It seems like they tend to wait for the second half before they kick it into high gear. The one game where they DID play hard all game they were up by almost 30 for a quarter, and still won by 20.

If they come to Miami ready to play, and they go all out, as they will have to, I think they stand a good chance of winning. If Shaq doesn't play, they will win for sure.

If they play that way in Miami, it'll be hard to beat em. They have to find a way to free up Wade and teach Shaq not to foul.

Not that Detroit will get much credit for it, the Miami apologists will start whining about Wade soon enough, especially if/when they lose game 7.

So much for Miami quickly "finishing off Detroit."

Well wait, that isn't fair, the Spurs are awesome at feeding Ginobili the ball.

Pistons fell apart in the second half. Sad. If they can play a whole game like they played the first quarter last night, it'll be a sight to see.

GINOBILI!!!

phil jackson is EXTREMELY overrated and this coming season will show that. There may be playoff games at the staples center next june, but the lakers wont be playing in them. The Lakers will miss the playoffs again, and to add insult to injury, the clippers will make the playoffs.

On a side note, interesting bit of news at the Palace.

A man had a heart attack in the stands, and a doctor from four sections over trampled over people to get to him, found him with no pulse and not breathing, gave him CPR with the help of his childhood doctor who happened to be there, and four minutes later the man started breathing.

I'm sure some road team will win one game this series, just wonder if it'll be the Spurs next game or Pistons for the win.

And for the record, I haven't even seen a second of the finals on TV yet...

I highly doubt the Pistons will lose Sunday. It will come down to whether they can win on the road or not, which I think they proved in Miami that they can in fact do.

It'll just depend on what game they bring with them.

If the Pistons play like they did last night when they get back to San Antonio, at the very least it will be a fight, if not another rout.

Posted by Lyrhawn (Member # 7039) on :

I'd say it was a combination of the two. Pistons played good defense last night and forced a lot of the turnovers that killed the Spurs.

Here we go, Game 5!!

Posted by Architraz Warden (Member # 4285) on :

And now the question isn't can they do what only three teams did over the season... It's can they do it twice.

Posted by Architraz Warden (Member # 4285) on :

Psh, if Phoenix hadn't had to rely on its bench when JJ broke an eye-socket, it would have been a different series. And a much more fun one.

I think the Pistons can win Tuesday night.

Thursday will be tough. But they have no problem winning on the road.

Posted by RoyHobbs (Member # 7594) on :

You're kidding yourself.

The Pistons are done.

I, a Spurs fan, can tell you the debilitating effects that a heart-wrenching Game 5 loss at home can do to a team. (last year - .4 s - Derek Fisher)

Get the Riverwalk ready, the party starts Tuesday night!

Posted by Lyrhawn (Member # 7039) on :

You guys said the same thing going into Game 3 and look what happened?

The game last night was close, a single move either way could have tipped the balance. You're in for a fight Tuesday night.

NBA Post Season Rule #345

Always, always cover Robert Horry!

-nal

Posted by The Silverblue Sun (Member # 1630) on :

I'm not sure if there's ever been a more prime time player than Robert Horry in the finals.

He's done it as a rocket.
He's done it as a laker.
Now he's doing it as a Spur.

Wow.

Go Timmy Duncan!
Ricecake #1!

Posted by Lyrhawn (Member # 7039) on :

Had the Spurs lost last night, I'm betting Duncan would haven taken a lot of the blame. He played horribly.

Posted by Hamson (Member # 7808) on :

I blame R.Wallace for a lot of that loss in game 5. I'm not fond of the guy, he takes a lot of stupid shots, and can't play defense for the most part. He also is not the brightest crayon in the box. And I agree with what Lyrhawn said about Duncan, he was like 15% with free throws, maybe even less.

Anywho, GO PISTONS!

Wooooooo we're goin' to a game 7....

Posted by Kwea (Member # 2199) on :

Well, I guess either the Spurs aren't as tough as peop;e though...

...or the Pistons are tougher than those same people said.

Which is it?

[Big Grin]

Darn good basketball!

Go Pistons!

Posted by Lyrhawn (Member # 7039) on :

I'd say it's both.

And considering the officials were trying to gift wrap that game for San Antonio, I call that a sweet fricken victory.

San Antonio-
Too bad you had to cancel your little parade. Maybe next time you'll wait until you actually win before planning the party.

Whats up with detroit and blaming officials ... even when you win?

Posted by Lyrhawn (Member # 7039) on :

I didn't so much mind the strict calling of Piston fouls, 99% of those called were correct.

What I was annoyed with was that the Spurs got away with practically everything during that game. Duncan practically jumped out of bounds and Wallace got the foul, Ginobili must have traveled four or five times just that I saw, and there was no foul called. It was ridiculous.

Posted by ProverbialSunrise (Member # 7771) on :

Travelling is almost never called in the NBA. They pretty much ignore it.

Posted by kaioshin00 (Member # 3740) on :

Indeed, the players travel a lot, especially during playoff time.

Posted by Lyrhawn (Member # 7039) on :

If that was a joke, it was pretty lame.

Either way, they made some ridiculous calls last night, some of which are forgivable, they don't have replay cameras to double check their calls. But come on, over and over and over again? If you didn't notice it, you must be a Spurs fan.

[Cry]

Why you gotta hate on the lame jokes lyrhawn. why?

Posted by Lyrhawn (Member # 7039) on :

Nah, it was funny, I was just being a jerk.

My grandpa makes jokes like that allll the time. [Wink]

If the refs are gonna call a game six biased, it's going to be PRO - Game 7. Which means, Detroit is favored and gets the better calls.

A NBA game seven means an additional revenue of about $200 to $500 million for the NBA, ABC and all other involved parties.

You'd think so Thor, in theory.

That doesn't pan out in reality though.

hey, pistons fans, [Taunt]

It was a very good series.

I don't think Duncan should have gotten MVP.

Ginobili was by far the most important player in the series.

Either way, good series Spurs. See you next year.

Posted by kaioshin00 (Member # 3740) on :

I too think Ginobli should've been MVP.

Oh well.

Posted by Tater (Member # 7035) on :

You would. [Roll Eyes]

Posted by kaioshin00 (Member # 3740) on :

The Heat may have 2 - but the Spurs have their "trio" of Duncan, Parker, and Ginobli. And with Parker not playing up to par, it was more the Duncan-Ginobli show - just like Miami. I wouldn't blame Miami's loss on having 2 superstars - I blame it on an entirely injured starting lineup and poor coaching [Wink]

I think that Ginobli should be MVP because he did many things - assist, take it to the basket, steal and 3 point shooting, but then again, Duncan had points, rebounds, and blocks. So yeah.

Posted by kaioshin00 (Member # 3740) on :

"The Spurs also had Bowen and Horry to pick up the slack from Parker. When Miami got into injury trouble, there was nobody to fill in."

Actually Zo and Dooling picked up the slack -- but Van Gundy took them out in the fourth quarter for who knows why? And remember, EVERY heat starter was injured - it's different when just one person is playing bad.
