After two years and nine months, OSC might have finally posted in someone else's landmark thread. I suddenly could feel so non-exclusive....

<Passes torch to Nato tentatively, seeing if he'll take it.>

<Expects Dobie of this thread soon.>

Wait a minute. Whose landmark thread? Was it identified as such? I feel as if I had peed on someone's shoe, without meaning to.

Posted by Orson Scott Card (Member # 209) on :

No! It was NOT a landmark thread.

The thread said "Landmark?" with a question mark. This made it fair game.

I think Mr. Card should be able to post in anyone's landmark he wants. After all, he'll be reaching his landmark soon, and wouldn't it be awful if we all felt obligated to stay out of it? [Wink]

Truthfully, I'd snicker a bit...

Hmmph. So does that mean that landmark threads, regardless of whose (other than Pop's) and on what topic are not fair game? [Grumble]

*is tempted to come up with a thread to mark just passed 13K*

Fair enough.

That's nothing. OSC sent me a present on my landmark day. He's just that nice and we're that close.

Posted by rivka (Member # 4859) on :

Rilly.

What did he send you?

Posted by Orson Scott Card (Member # 209) on :

Actually, I just made a lewd suggestion and she refused.

But it's so nice of her to call it a "present."

[Eek!]

Does Hobbes know?

He does now! [Cry]

I did refuse.

But honestly, am I expected to give audience to all the suggestions I get? I wouldn't even have time to eat.

Well... It was a post for my 1000-post landmark, although cleverly disguised.

I didn't think people who barely know me would be as interested in some stories about my history as some mediocre political satire.

Sorry for breaking your record. I'll post in yours if you'd like, but at this point, I've only got a streak lasting about an hour.

Annie, no fair! All I got from OSC was a letter saying my landmark present was in the mail!

What's a landmark thread?

Posted by James Tiberius Kirk (Member # 2832) on :

A landmark thread is a thread you make telling something about yourself whenever you reach a certain postcount.

It doesn't necessarily have to be a nice round number like 1000, 500, or 10000-- you could have a landmark at post number 2412 if you wanted to-- but Papa Moose started the tradition with his thousanth post, if I remember correctly.
