I just went to the mall that I have been going to since childhood. I worked at in it about 20 years ago. I spent all of my lunches visiting B.Dalton book store and perusing comics, books, and what ever caught my eye. This store had been part of the mall since it was first built, well since it was transformed from a strip mall to a covered mall in the 1970's.

I visited it today for the first time since the holidays.

My dearly beloved B. Dalton has been replaced...

by a "Sports Apparell Store."

The Jocks have stolen my store.

[Frown] [Eek!] [Angst]

If it makes you feel any better, the majority of people who shop at sports apparel stores are more accurately posers, not jocks. To be a jock, you actually have to have some skill at playing a sport, as opposed to just watching it on tv.

Bloody jocks. First they bogart all the girls, and now they're annexing bookstores. Will they never stop? [Grumble]

Our only hope is to learn their language, mate with their women, and, in time, our differences will be resolved.

I say extermination is easier.

Book, we of the planet Abzork have already followed that strategy, and it didn't work. We caught acne and it wiped out our home world, and all of us who didn't get Oxy 10 in time.

Why is being upset about a small but good bookshop even jokingly nerdy?!

Posted by Portabello (Member # 7710) on :

Only nerds read books.

Maybe you should protest with the medium of passionate (or dispassionate, depending on which one you think will be more effective) interpretive dance.

I know how you feel, Dan - just like I felt when I discovered that they don't sell MAC in Roanoke. We do have a B.Dalton in our mall, though.
