I pretty much average one movie out at the theaters a year. Hubby and I don't get away by ourselves very often.

What would you see this weekend - Saturday night? Everything else will have to wait until it's on DVD.

Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy =)

I really liked Hitchhiker's Guide. I think it's the only decent thing out, if you don't count foreign films.

If you see one a year, then wait for a better weekend. I'm sorry - Hitchiker's is very fun, but there's nothing fantastic in theatres right now.

Sin City... [Evil]

hehhe.. no.. not a good idea. Um... Star Wars!

What are your options? I mean, they are still playing Hitch close to me. I'd recommend that, if you can find it.

[edit: just wanted to see the edit feature.]

What movie had the trailer "If you only see one movie this year... See Star Wars.
But if you see two movies this year, come see ____"

I'm thinking it was Austin Powers 2, but not positive.

I see way too many movies in a year to recommend something for this kind of question.

I would wait for Star wars.

I recently saw the preview for Star Wars and it looked thrilling.

I vote for Star Wars.

Rent or wait. Hitchhikers was good, but if it were my only film in a year, I would be disapointed. Star Wars seems unlikly to be a great as the first three, unless your a hard-core fan it isn't a once-a-year movie.

wait for Serenity. Duh =)

Ooooh...it would be pretty close between Narnia and Serenity. But since I haven't seen all the Firefly episodes, I would probably go see Narnia.

Millions.

I wanted to go see Millions, but I ran out of time... [Frown]

1. Star Wars
2. Narnia
3. Serenity

Maybe Harry Potter GoF. But Star Wars mostly =)

Yeah Austin Powers 2 did the "if you only see..."

And I saw a Hitchhiker trailer that did the same thing.

Chicken Little has a trailer that spoofs off of Hitchhiker that's funny.

If it HAS to be this weekend, I've heard Millions is good and family friendly, so you might even be able to take the two oldest with you. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0366777/

For a grown-ups only movie, I've heard that Crash is really, really good. Haven't seen it though. It is chock-a-block with good actors, and the script haas won high praise. http://movies.about.com/od/crash/a/crash030305.htm

Personally, if I HAD to see a movie this weekend, I'd probably pick Unleashed.
http://movies.about.com/od/crash/a/crash030305.htm

Jet Li and Morgan Freeman. Lots of martial-arts HooHA for the hubby, handsome Asian man in a collar for me. Everybody Wins! [Wink]

But if you want something light and silly-fun, see Hitchhiker's Guide

Sorry I killed your thread. Have fun at the movie and tell us which one you picked!

Hmm... I just know SW will disappoint... I mean, my friend bought the ROTS video game this weekend, and that guy who plays Anakin even makes a bad video game character...

But I guess it's the event of the year. We can finally pound a stake into this monstrosity's heart.

I'm recommending Batman, though.

I think she said it had to be this Saturday night.

I bet if George Lucas had skipped all the promos and just release Star Wars without any fanfare, hell, done it covertly without any warning, all of a sudden, go see Star Wars, then they would not have disappointed....as much.

Edit to add: I have an uncontrollable urge to post a defense to any seemingly anti-Star Wars comment I read. I can't stop it, but I do apologize in advance. We'll all know how it end sin 5 Days, 9 Hours, 25 Minutes and 30 Seconds.

You know, the media blitz is becoming a bit trying for me.

Darth Vader on POP-Tarts? And the "Be seduced by the Dark Side" adds for dark chocolate m&ms?

And then there are all the cheesy photo spreads: Hayden Christensen posing it a black T-shirt with "Sith Happens" written on it, Ewan McGregor in a t-shirt saying, "Three Star Wars movies and all I got was this lousy t-shirt".

And those are the ones I kind of liked. [Wink]

I know, Olivetta. It's like the thought the marketing in Spaceballs was a serious idea to GL!

Yes, it has to be this Saturday night. Every other weekend night is filled with something from now until June.

Wes said he wants to see Hitchiker's Guide. So that's probably what it will be.

Now the next question - where to eat? [Razz]

Posted by Annie (Member # 295) on :

The marketing is pretty lame, but my little sister did just pull a lightsaber spoon out of a box of cereal that's pretty dang sweet.

It just seems more and more like Star Wars has no dignity. They'll have Star Wars feminine products and Star Wars contraceptives before you know it.

Though I have to say, I laughed out loud at the BK commercial with Darth Vader and the guy with the mop.

Taken individually, they are OK. It's when you can't turn around in the grocery store, or can't drive 2 blocks down the street without seeing something Star Wars. It's like the ads in Minority Report, except they aren't customized for you.
