So I got an email from a reporter from New York Times Magazine asking if I would send her my phone number so she can interview me about Halestorm Entertainment, a film company based in Utah. (actually was an extra for one of the movies)

Should I do it? What if I totally don't know how to answer some of her questions.

Wow... New York times...
[Eek!]

It couldn't hurt to try - its not like this is the kind of interview you can fail. [Big Grin]

And how often do you get a chance to be interviewed by a Times' reporter?

Which movie were you in?

And where in the movie?

I was in "The RM"...
I'm in the wedding scene. [Big Grin]

You were in a movie? Cool.

I say go for the interview. If you're not sure, say so. If you need time to gather your thoughts, take it. Good luck!

This is the email I got:

My name is Carlene Bauer, and I'm writing a piece for The New York Times
Magazine on Halestorm Films.

I'm writing because I'm looking to include opinions from Mormons on
these films in my piece. I'm sorry to bother you, but I saw your comment
on the H List, and wanted to know if you wouldn't mind being interviewed
briefly over the phone about why you like the films. (Just so you know
I'm a writer on the up and up, I'm also an editor at Elle magazine
during the day and I write often for Salon.com.)

If you'd rather not comment, I totally understand. Hope this finds you
well!

Yours,
Carlene

I think you should do it, but be careful. Don't answer any questions you don't feel comfortable answering and don't be afraid to tell the reporter if you are uncomfortable or offended by any questions. I'm a little leery of the NYT - they have a history of being somewhat condescending toward anything with any ties to religion.

I will go see a movie just because it's by those guys. I totally really love those movies! And I wasn't even raised Mormon! [Big Grin]

That is so cool you got to be in one. *can't get over it*

I would do it! Mrs. M's right, though; be careful how you phrase things.

ketchupqueen: I love their movies too! And am still thrilled that I was in one of them (And one Excel movie [Blushing] "Pride and Prejudice" although they REALLY need a widescreen version to actually see me)

Thank you Mrs. M, I will be as careful as I can and hope that she isn't going to bash their films. That is so not cool that one of the most popular magazines have a history toward condesending religion. *sigh* [Frown]

I've seen that movie. Were you a specific character, of just some random extra?

I agree with the advice to approach with caution.

Maybe you can check out Carlene's writings on religion:
