Hatrack like all forums of a general nature has tis share of controversal threads but wow, no bickering, the argueing is concise and to point and no swearing or name calling. So wow, at www.startrek.com you go to their general forums and whoa! BICK-ER-ING!!! The "disccusions" are heated debates that easilly resorts to name calling. So Hats off to Hatrack! [Hat]

I have a friend that actually got a forum shut down completely and permanently because of an innocent comment he made about a convention he attended that resulted in the biggest flame war ever.

There is something that can be said about the maturity levels of a forum's participants. To me it does reflect on OSC in that this is his website and it tends to attracts a mature and well-rounded audience.

We are not a nice, pleasant place. Not Not Not you @#42#4(@UY%$@%@#($%&#@$(Y#@rl2359@*&45928 4@#4u2342974$#@$@$@#$@#$^@#&&#!~~~!!!!!!

And anyone who says we are polite and have informative discussions is a scruffy looking nerf herder looking for a fight.

We have our share of wars. Just not at the moment. And we have such a good Janitor that no one wants to offend him and get banned... [Wink]

What a waste of a thread.

Posted by Beanny (Member # 7109) on :

Yeah, you need a lot of thread to wrap that waist.

Posted by Sid Meier (Member # 6965) on :

wut!? How is a thread praising Hatrackers for their maturity a waste? What you would prefer? A thread dedicated to bashing hatrackers?

Posted by Kreve (Member # 8110) on :

I think Kaioshin's talking about the threads you linked to, not this thread.

Posted by Sid Meier (Member # 6965) on :

I didn't link to a thread, since I'm lazy just generally when I was cruising the ST general discussion forums there would be threads over an issue which were practically flame warz.

I think it's less of a comment about our maturity but more a burn to those that still enjoy Star Trek.

What!? How dare he! *burning eyes* If ENT could get one more freaking season we would've had a well thought out series of events leading to the fedaration!

Put him on The List, Sid, and get the senior officers to go on away mission to his house.

Set phasers to stun.

stun is too good for him, and yet so is kill... ok I have a solution there's that agonizing death phasor that the colector used in TNG when he captured Data, lets use that and get rid fo the evidence. [Big Grin]

I think yu are right, this is a fun board because the folks here seem both mature and intelligent. I had been spending time on one of the Howard Stern boards because I thought it was quirky and colorful. After a while I realized it was just purile at best, and racist at worst and quit. I had been reading this site for a while and simply decided to post in the post-Star Wars Ep.III threads. NO regrets!
