In my experience, dobies are phenomenon inflicted on Hatrack to the sole amusement of the creator.

We need a lot less totally inane dobies and a lot more Stargate dobies.

And maybe we could all try to limit ourselves to one dobie per topic being dobied, and one dobie per day, except in extraordinary circumstances. That would help.

In my view, what is wrong with dobies is the same thing that is wrong with puns -- they are inflicted upon others for the amusement of the creator.
