I friend of mine was mumbling on about this, and came up with this:

China could get an agent in Canada who works in technical stuff. And say the Chinese give him the firends he needs to get into NORAD he/she then begins to climb up the ladder and can eventually being part of the Canadian NORAD can infiltrate the American one take secrets and pass it on to the Chinese.

Just some ramblings my friend came up with.

Why would it be easier for them to infiltrate Canadian NORAD?

Because it is. *smug*

"give him the friends he needs."

That's sort of assuming a lot, isn't it?

I think all will join me in saying "dubya tee eff, Mate!?"

Because everyone knows Canadians have loose morals. Also, everyone knows that Canadians are just a bunch of immigrants and have no true sincere love for their country.

Sid: think before you speak, please.

think about what? These were just ramblings by a friend of mine, my plan would've been to reconstruct the Canadian Communist Party and ally China.

You're musings contained an unspoken assumption - that infiltrating Canadian NORAD and from their infiltrating American NORAD would be easier than infiltrating American NORAD directly, despite the extra step involved.

I can think of several reasons why this might be the case:

1.) Canada performs less in-depth security background checks than the U.S., and the U.S. doesn't do such checks on Canadians coming over to the American complexes.

2.) The U.S. won't assigne any Asian people into their NORAD facilities at all, but will let Canadians in even if they are of Asian descent.

3.) China has an extensive sleeper organization in Canada but not the U.S.

4.) Canada is pissed at us and would let it happen.

None of them except 2 are at all flattering to Canada, although I'm sure other possibilities exist, too.

So the question is, why do you think it would be easier to infiltrate Canada than the U.S.?

Actually, Dag is entirely missing the point. The real question is, why did you think this thread would be of any possible interest to the 'rack? I mean, do you think agents of the Chinese communist party hang about here, just waiting for some kid to supply them with an utterly brilliant plan?

I don't know. If anyone comes up with cool spy scenarios, I'd like to hear them, just for fun.

To get into Norad, all the Chinese have to do is to borrow the Russian stargate, go to some other planet, and then come back to the American gate.

Are you saying they don't let anyone Asian, even if they are American-born, into NORAD? Or can American-born people get in but not naturalized immigrants? Or does no one of any Asian descent get in? What about Middle Easterners? What about Africans? What if they are half-asian? Adopted?

I love the "even" in this sentence. I'm so happy the U.S. is so open-minded towards Canadians.

Kim Philby wasn't exactly Russian, was he? Why should a spy necessarily be Asian and more than a white communist?

I'm hope that Canadian officials not that stupid to let personal feelings get in the way of their better judgement, although I wouldn't put my money on it.

I am perfectly able to believe that Canadians are somewhat more lax about their vetting.

my plan would've been to reconstruct the Canadian Communist Party
However great we thought it was one one constituency went Communist Party for about a minute in the last election, most Canadians would not even consider voting communist. We are not a struggling, desperate people like Germany was when they elected Hitler or Russia when the Bolsheviks rampaged around. We are not looking for a quick-fix government promising miracles. We are a prosperous country of highly educated people. It is not simply a matter of resurrecting the party (especially since it already exists), especially when the majority of the country takes either a central or a conservative position.

If the Chinese are planning on invading/infiltrating America, I'm sure they've already got a plan. It's called make all the Americans petrified of them, then throw their weight around a bit to weaken the country by dividing down the middle over social, global, moral and economic issues. Wait until America starts turning themselves into a paranoid police state that is incapable of functioning on the world stage. Then divert much of the economy centred on the U.S. to China.

Insist that America disban her nuclear weapons because she is an unstable danger to the world.

If refused, rally the rest of the world, battered and bruised from America's previous exploits, into boycotting American goods, including the media, thus throwing the country into even more turmoil.

If still refused, direct the rest of the world to suspend America for human rights violations or somesuch, while avoiding also being suspended themselves. Condemn smaller countries to avoid prosecution.

Emerge as world leader in space and technology.

Teach everyone to speak Chinese.

Colonise other planets. Have civil war and unite into a single Alliance.

Shiny!

Wow, we're almost thinking along the same lines!

Wait, didn't we blow up the American stargate and then rent the Russian one?

Yes, and the Chinese would actually need to get ahold of a GDO anyway. Oh well. Maybe they can find some technology that Yu left behind, fly to a world with a stargate, and then gate back.

Um, Teshi, those were possible intermediate steps that would have filled in the gaps in Sid's logic as to why infiltrating Canada is easier. I'm not positing any of them as true, and doubt any are.

Oh. I did think the first one was especially odd!

Well in that case, just ignore the irrelevent bits. Or Sid can read them. The rest of my post is still relevent [Smile] .

The main thing with security clearances from the government is that they take a good hard look at immigrants, as in were they or are they a citizen of another country, and pretty much all your co-workers would turn you in for anything crazy you might think about doing.

Though I wouldn't talk much about American security being so much better than Canadians. Which country gave the Soviets nuclear weapons technology, which country has a good long list of people with American top secret clearances who have given info to the Soviets. Not to mention that through one single source they had within the United States the defense of Western Europe was compromised.

That and it doesn't matter how strenous you check certain persons, if someone who passed at one point and time decides it would be "cool" to be a Chinese spy there isn't much you can do but try to catch them in the act. Such is life, and why just because you have one clearance doesn't mean you get to go and spend your nights reading sensitive information.

Do you think they could give me a firend? What number is "firend" on the take-out menu? [Confused]

[Roll Eyes]

Everyone knows that NORAD is just a cover for Stargate Command. Sheesh.

It would be much easier for the Chinese to infiltrate NORAD through Argentina.

They could simply dig through the Earth and that way they would be in the right hemisphere. From there infiltrating NORAD would be a cinch.

What with them floating in all the dollars that Americans send their way, the Chinese could just buy NORAD.
