My partner and I were round at our step-auntie and -uncle's place this past weekend. They're only a couple of years older than us, so they're more like friends than relatives. We enjoy their company immensely and they have the absolute best kids.
Their little girl, Iliyana is about four or five and is a somber yet positive child with HUGE brown eyes and a ready smile. My partner and I were talking with her and her parents and conversation got onto her best friend.
Her parents made a comment about the two of them not completely getting along at the moment, in the way little kids get sometimes.
My partner then said to Iliyana: "So is she not your friend anymore?"
Iliyana just looked at Jus with these huge brown eyes as if it was the stupidest question in the world and said:
"She's always my friend."
Here's a four-year-old who knows the value of friendship and knows that even when you're not getting along, you're still friends....
What a cool kid.

Yeah, no point. Just I seem to keep meeting these cool kids which give lie to the idea that all children should be featured on "SuperNanny".
So... I'm getting a little clucky. If I'm opening it up to any discussion it would be on cluckiness and cool kids.

Good for her. I see my little brothers doing the exact opposite all the time, but usually write it off as a thing kids do. I learned the value of friendship young as well. Or at least I like to think I did. I didn't have too many friends when I was in Elementary School.

Yeah. *sigh*. Their little boy is way cute too. He's only about 18 months old and barely knows us yet, but he's so very cheery and independent. After only an hour or so with us he just walked up to Jus, holding his arms up to be picked up and gave her a big hug.
My little nephew is damn cool. He turns two on Saturday and owns his own petrol-driven mini motorbike, with training wheels. He can work the clutch, brake and accelerator pedals all by himself and loves nothing more than tooling around with his mum while she's off on her dirt-bike. He also went ski-ing for the first time on the weekend.
