I caught that, too, but thought you must have mentioned it somewhere else, and I was just being slow and would only expose my slowness by commenting!

I hope it goes well for you, and may this little one bring your family much joy!

Thanks! [Smile]

I wasn't really planning on announcing it, but it was relevant to the current line conversation, funny, and I had no reason not to mention it, so I did.

But now everyone can be in the know! [Smile]

It's not a duh. It could have been December this year. :pirate:

Posted by ketchupqueen (Member # 6877) on :

No, it couldn't have. Not with the math I'm doing in my head.

Wellll... for those paying attention to the miscarriage fiasco, no it couldn't've been.

Posted by mr_porteiro_head (Member # 4644) on :

Oh, yeah. I forgot that that was public knowledge.

Posted by ketchupqueen (Member # 6877) on :

See? I knew that she was planning to wait a month or so, and her miscarriage was a week or two before mine. So while the baby could have come in Dec., it would have been due in Jan. at the earliest.

I have to admit, I am hoping for a boy this time. Our oldest really could use a brother.

And I just know I'm gonna have a son who thinks it's my fault for making his birthday fall around Valentine's Day.

Well, isn't it? [Razz]

Posted by mr_porteiro_head (Member # 4644) on :

Hey! I had something to do with it!

Posted by beverly (Member # 6246) on :

Well, if I'd been as fertile as I've been in the past, the due date would've been January 20th. I wasn't expecting to actually *gasp* NOT get pregnant!

I hope it isn't presumptuous of me to offer my congratulations, since I don't know either of you at all. But, congratulations all the same.

Bev, congrats, it's too bad your due date wasn't Jan 20th, then it would be exactly 2 decades younger than me.

I heard a heartbeat today! [Party]

I don't use that graemlin often, but that is how I feel about it. After the miscarraige, I told myself I was holding out to hear a heartbeat before this became fully "real" to me.

Even more fun, I get to go get an early ultrasound today too! I'm taking my two oldest kids along. They will get a kick out of it. [Big Grin]

Posted by beverly (Member # 6246) on :

Thanks, y'all. Hopefully the kids won't pull any wires or anything.

I will probably post something after the ultrasound. Crossing my fingers and hoping for good news!

Posted by Mrs.M (Member # 2943) on :

Congratulations, beverly!

There's nothing like hearing that heartbeat. I listen to Ladybug's every day and it's still a thrill for me.

I'm praying that the ultrasound goes well.

Posted by beverly (Member # 6246) on :

Wow, you can listen to it everyday? That is cool. Where do you get a divice like that and how much does it cost?

The ultrasound went just fine. [Smile] Only my son opted to come along. He was probably more interested in the machine than the pics of the baby. [Smile]

I was given a new due date! Feb 5th, which is a full 9 days earlier than the calendar says! (The original was Valentine's Day.) She said that they could be off by as much as a week in either direction (which sounds like a lot).

But nine days earlier! Man. I knew my cycles were messed up, which was part of why we got the ultrasound to begin with. I'm just not used to the unsure due-date thing. [Frown]

Also, this means my sister and I no longer have the same estimated due date. Oh well. [Smile]

As always, it was wonderful to see that tiny body, watch it move. [Smile]

This means that your mother cannot be there for both of you.

Posted by beverly (Member # 6246) on :

Mrs. M:

I'm renting a fetal doppler from Stork Radio for $22/month (although I looked at the site and it seems they raised the rates to $25). I'm going to send it back when I can feel her move regularly and when we can hear the heartbeat with a stethoscope.

Wow, 9 days off, beverly!? That seems like a lot to me. I'm guessing they'll be able to tell better at your next ultrasound. My due date is more concrete than most, considering we did fertility and I was inseminated.

Posted by theCrowsWife (Member # 8302) on :

My original due date was 15 days off. After the ultrasound it went from Nov 9 to Nov 24! My daughter was finally born on Nov 30, but only after inducing labor.

I'm glad that things are looking good, beverly. I wish you the best of luck.

Thanks for celebrating with us! It feels good to know there really is a whole baby in there with a beating heart and squirming limbs!

CrowsWife, I can understand it going later, in case ovulation happened way later than thought, but if 9 days earlier is correct, it appears I ovulated while still menstrating! Now, my periods were way short the few months leading up to pregnancy. They were 26 and even 24 days long. My guess is that it is probably more like... *caluculates*... Feb 10th.

Mrs.M, several people have told me that the earlier the ultrasound, the more accurate the prediction. Apparently the more time passes, the more variation in size from fetus to fetus. But it will be interesting to see what kinda due date my next ultrasound provides.

That is pretty cool that your conception date is a scientific FACT. [Smile]

Yay for you! Your new posts really made me smile, I think because I felt almost exactly the same way. After a miscarriage, I just think you're afraid to hope till you hear that wonderful sound. And that's great that you got to see him/her on ultrasound, too. We have the baby's ultrasound pictures on the fridge, and I love walking by every day and seeing his little profile. Hope you're feeling well!

I am feeling very well for being pregnant. Thank you. [Smile] I don't get much nausea, but I do get tired and tummy-sore sometimes.

Posted by theCrowsWife (Member # 8302) on :

Ah, good point. That would be somewhat unlikely *G*.

My understanding is that the ultrasound is quite accurate at determining due date for the first trimester, because there are clearly differentiated stages that can be seen and measured. After that it becomes less accurate because the main change will be growth, and different babies grow at different rates.

With our second child, she was due New years eve. We went to Fetul Photos in a mall at the end of November. The guy who was doing the ultrasound told us that she should be due January 9th. She was measured small.

She was born 2 weeks early December 18. She was a small baby 5 lbs 14 ounces. She scored 10 on the Apgar test.

So, I think that they are better able to tell you the due date in the first trimester.

[Party] For ultrasounds.

I'm so excited... I heard that the facility I will be sent to for the 20-week-ultrasound has a 4D machine! No guarantee I will get it--but I might! [Big Grin] [Big Grin] [Big Grin]

Posted by Brinestone (Member # 5755) on :

What is a 4D machine?

Posted by beverly (Member # 6246) on :

It allows you to see a 3D image of your child moving in real-time. Quite a step up from the old machines. You can see depth and surfaces rather than just the 2D cross-section of before.

4D is kindof a misnomer, but the result is still impressive. I will look for a link....

There are clips here. I don't have the proper plug-in at the moment, and didn't feel like getting it. But hopefully you can watch the clips.

D'uh. I keep forgetting the my experience is extremely rare - I had an ultrasound every week for the first 2 months of my pregnancy and they didn't measure me for an estimated due date until the 6 week one. I keep forgetting that most women only have 1-3 ultrasounds in a pregnancy. I also realized that a February due date means that beverly is farther along than when they first measured me.

Sorry about that - I have a bad case of pregnancy stupidity.

Posted by beverly (Member # 6246) on :

Ah. At first reading, I misunderstood what you were saying. Got it now.

Posted by Miriya (Member # 7822) on :

Congratulations Beverly. I didn't see this before as I'm on hatrack very intermittently. (also pregnant... and having serious nausea issues [Frown] I need a green graemlin)

Just had my second ultrasound yesterday. It's a really fun experience. My daughter spend the afternoon holding the picture and showing the world.

Posted by beverly (Member # 6246) on :

I'm sorry that you are still grappling with nausea at your second ultrasound! That really sucks. [Frown]
