I went to the 50th annual Grandfather Mtn Highland Games this weekend, and it was AWESOME! I was particularly impressed with the bands they had there.

Clann An Drumma was amazing! It's one of those things that can't be described, it must be experienced. They are made up of one bagpiper and five drummers, and they looked and sounded like they just stepped out of ancient Scotland. (And it doesn't hurt to have a few really hot band members. [Wink] ) They were so energetic, and into their drumming, and they would get carried away with it, and you can't help but jump around and dance to it. I heard a great description of their music: "It makes the men want to fight, and the women want to mate."

Hunting McLeod was another good band that I really liked. They had a lot of energy, and just looked like they were having so much fun. They actually broke a few stages over the weekend with all their jumping around. I even got to talk to a few of the band members, and they remembered my name the next day. [Smile] They even let me come up and headbang with them during one of their songs. [Cool]

If you EVER get the chance to hear these bands play, I highly recommend it. [Smile]

In Nova Scotia? At the Citadel?

I've never heard of such a celebration at the Citadel. And, really, why would something like that go on at the Citadel?

This past weekend were the Highland Games, held at the Citadel in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Someone recently mentioned Clann an Drumma to me. There was a highland fest near us. Next year, I will try to go.

Wait a sec. I thought you said they looked like they stepped out of ancient Scotland.

I wanted to go to them last year, but we had to come home right before they started.

Really?

*blink*

I tell ya, you live somewhere for 18 years and you think you know a place [Razz]

Edit: Hey! They're on the Garrison Grounds. I was wondering how they'd have the games on a hill. [Wink]

Yes Tom, they do look like they stepped out of ancient Scotland. And they have the accents and everything. It's incredibly sexy.

I saw Hunting mcLeod once, and I have to say I was greatly underwhelmed. Maybe they've improved their show in the past year or so. I certainly hope they have. Oh well.

I got the CD today. I'd completely forgotten I'd even ordered it. Imagine how confused I was to have a small package from Scotland. Pretty good music. [Big Grin]

I shipped a t-shirt to Scotland this morning. It is to become a 16th birthday present.

Maybe I'm just a purist. Give me pipes, and pipes alone. Although Bonnie Dundee is awesome.
Only the Hunting McLeod link worked for me.

This reminds me I should read more of my heritage. Thanks.

I got my pictures of Clann An Drumma back!

Me and my cousin with Jamesie.
Me and my cousin with Kyle.
Me with "Mr. Hotness-in-a-kilt" (aka Aya)

I have some pictures of Hunting McLeod too, but they're not on my computer yet.
