Usually, I would just go on vacation and figure people would not notice. After the incident this fall, I felt that would be unfair, so I am now remembering to say: I will be gone for a week. Aside from a few potential hangovers, it will not be because I am sick.

We are off to our Adult Christmas: The Grassroots Festival of Music and Dance. Four days of musical heaven.

If you see me posting today, say: Get packing! That is what I need to be doing.

Flood in the basement last night, so please keep your fingers crossed that we do not come home to some sort of disaster. Brand new rugs down here and all.

Yay, Elizabeth! Sounds like you will have a ball with the music.

(Can I repost your sonnet here? It's awesome.)

Ha ha, sure CT, I can do it her. (of course, i am busy packing right now and using my Hermoine Granger two-places-at-once spell.

For references:
This was from the Green River Fest. It is also a balloon festival, and at night, the balloons were in the back field, glowing in time with the music. One of the most incredible things I've ever seen. Jeb, the guitar player, was attracting bugs, and Kathy, the keyboard player, called him Porchlight. Steve Earle swears like crazy, and the festival was no alcohol allowed.

"How Hot It Was, How Moisture-filled the Air"

How hot it was, how moisture-filled the air
As we pulled in and set our little camp.
Sea Breezes filled a jug next to our chair
By Steven smuggled in, that handsome scamp.
Balloons were like six moons, plus half above
The flames within flashed to the music's beat.
Jeb's light attracted bugs, he was a love
To disengage that beetle's little feet.
As always we were pleased to hear the Duhks
And with their friends The Mammals they did play.
My son, he loved Steve Earle but for the "f***s"
I said "Don't worry, dear, it's just his way."
What fun it was, how beautiful the night
To hear our band play songs of pure delight.

OK, 3:30 AM. We have not left yet. (ETD was 2 AM)

While making a post about something(can;t remember what now), the ceiling fell on my head.

A whole panel of that drop eiling stuff.

This was followed by a stream of water.

This after the condensation puddle of yesterday and today, so the two events were not related, at least directly.

We are going anyway. My friend is coming to feed the cats and monitor the flood, which should stop once we are out of here.

Egads, the timing!
