My laptop for school just came and it's all shiny and grey and awesome! Now I just have to figure out how to use it! Woo-hoo!

I'll never forget the headlines the day the Dell Dude got busted for drugs.

"Dude, You're gettin' a Cell!"

We got 11 Dells at school yesterday. That was a heck of a lot of boxes!

My family's always used Dell and we've never had a problem with them.

I have a Dell computer sitting here, it's more than 7 years old, and it's still a useful machine. I've upgraded it a bit, obviously. I wouldn't chuck it for any amount of money. Sentimental value, and all that. [Smile]

I like Dell's. Cool. Enjoy. New laptops are fun. Wireless is great too!

Cheers! I've gone through 4 dell laptops - currently on my 5th.

This one's survived the longest - I think it's because I haven't moved it from the dock all summer. Go easy on your laptop if you take it to the library or class - turn off the hard drive if possible during transportation, and store it in it's own padded pouch.

I just bought a refurbished Dell, too. Been tweaking it all morning. . .

Okay, so I've already screwed something up. I put a password on my account, and I know what it is. The problem is, it doesn't seem to be working. I know it's right, because I even put the little clue thing to remind me. I've tried every alternative with caps lock and capital letters, and every misspelling I could think of, but I can't get into my account. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Since it's the summer, we do most of our deployment here at the college over July.

Two weeks ago, we got a shipment consisting of:

52 Dell Gigabit switches
148 Dell desktops
22 Dell laptops
5 Dell servers
20 Dell Axims
160 Dell flat-panels

It took two trucks, and the boys spent nearly four hours unloading and unboxing everything. The stack, when we got it off the truck, was 6'H x 16'L x 10'W.

That is a lot of boxes. *grin*

Was yours the admin account? Or did you make a separate account? If you can get logged in as admin, you should be able to go change the password again.

Go into the adminstrator account and change the password on your account??

Unless, of course, it is the adminstrator's account.

No, I mine is the admin account. But they made me make a separate admin password, before I set up the accounts, and that one doesn't work either. I know I'm using the right password and I'm spelling it right. I can't see how I could've misspelled it twice the same way when setting up the account.

And it only took me two and a half hours to break my computer.

Have you tried logging in without a password?

Posted by MidnightBlue (Member # 6146) on :

wow, found the problem. I had changed my mind half way through setting up my password. I remembered what I changed it to, but right before I submitted it I realized that caps lock was on. I turned it off and re-entered the password, entering the original instead of what I'd changed it to. Wow. At least now I know what it is.

My dell's laptop harddrive has nicely crashed twice, once with the original harddrive and once with the new one, but it's been a trend of 1.5 years between crashes. Arrr.

That it's a PC?

If you have a password on the account, you can't log in without one.

Posted by Jon Boy (Member # 4284) on :

Right. I was just thinking that maybe the computer was confused and thought you didn't have a password. You never know.
