After reading OSC's thread where Lost Boys snagged an award or two for it's audio book version, I began to debate if I wanted to try this.

So I finally did it. I just downloaded Bradbury's The Martian Chronicles (unabridged of course). I've always wanted to read Bradbury since he's praised so much. Something Wicked This Way Comes was my first choice, but I decided to save that one for paper and download Chronicles instead. It's not as large as I thought it would be. At 7 hours and 15 mins, it's only about 100MB.

I look forward to experiencing this form of fiction. I always enjoyed having books read to me as a kid. Whenever a chapter would end, I’d be so excited to see what was going to happen next that I often couldn’t think about anything else.

Thanks to OSC, Stephen King (I read King talking about how he likes to listen to them in a car--that's what first intrigued me), and everyone else here that suggested it.

I've also enjoyed listening to books that I've already read -- I've listened to the entire HP series (except for 6, duh) in addition to reading them. One of the neat things about listening as opposed to reading is that it slows me down. I tend to inhale books, so listening makes me pay attention to details I missed on the first or second or third reading. [Smile]

I like it so far; both the story and the audiobook experience. A great and relaxing way to spend my lunch hour at work.

While everyone barking in the break room was competing with the noise of over-blaring soap operas or Dr. Phil, I went off into a empty, quiet office; propped my feet up on the desk, closed my eyes, and enjoyed.

Audiobooks are great when you have a long commute-- welcome to the fold of the faithful, EM.

I've got a 14 hour drive coming up in two weeks as I move my family to a diffrent state. I may just put one or two more books on my iPod before we leave.
