héhéhé ! I remember when i had driving lessons... waw ! It was in 2003. And since i had my driving license, i have driven never more ! In Paris, Having a car is totally useless because of public transport. Bu next week, i must drive for my trip in Ireland... Be carefull Irish ! The fastest space ship of the galaxy's pilote will be in your country !

Choobak, be careful! These people are crazy, they always drive on the wrong side of the road. You wonder what makes them stick to the left all the time, eh? Could it be the beer?

I'm about to start driving lessons tomorrow as well - this will be my second attempt, after my first one ended in a failed mock test and a twisted ankle (rushing for a train at a tube station - how ironic).

Beanny, beware the Israeli drivers. You cannot count on them; what's more, you must keep quit on the streers and not honk as you will. In a place where there are no people, try to be one.

Will, JH has plans of leaving Israel and never coming back, so yeah, I suppose he doesn't think much of our country's society. He's forgetting, though, that if in Israel my car will suddenly die and cease to work, within ten minutes of just standing there I'll have a whole bunch of volunteers coming to help me. And if nothing helps, I'll for sure get a ride home. That's not very common in other places.

If you get a free minute or so, could you explain that a little more? I've glanced over the Pirkei Avot, but I can't really see how citing it, in the sense he did, isn't particularly offensive. But Israeli drivers are infamous. And I think all Jonathan was saying was, "In a place where everyone drives like a maniac, drive sanely."

Well, in that respect, that advice is very reasonable
Obviously I can't speak about Israel, but I've had lots of people tell me that Vancouver, Montreal and Chicago drivers are the worst. Yet I couldn't really notice any difference between those cities and driving where I am.
But driving lessons can be fun - I took mine after I had my license. I did it more to get a discount on my insurance than anything else.

Had my first lesson - it all went reasonably fine. Clutch control and steering need a bit of work, but all in all it was much less scary than I thought it would be. Whew!

In New Jersey, the drivers are all exemplary. You see, we have the highest auto insurance rates in the country (who knows -- probably the whole world. And solar system), and our drivers are petrified that a traffic citation or fender bender will cause them to be surcharged right out of the Garden State.

Choobak, Be aware that any praise you hear for New Jersey is likely to be tongue-in-cheek. We Jerseyans tend to have a bit of an inferiority complex, and try to cover for it by unseemly bravado.
We know that we are the butt of jokes in the rest of the 49 states. Overcompensation may be a New Jersey trait.
That said, I adore my town, love my neighborhood and community, and think this is a terrific place to raise a family.
If only it weren't so close to so many Superfund sites...
