...spilled directly onto your lap. Cool, yes. Not entirely refreshing. Fairly sticky. Eww.

My only consolation is that this happened at home instead of at work. Here I'm able to clean up and change pants, and there's nobody to see the very embarrasingly positioned wet mark.

I hate it when I'm drinking a coke (or Dr Pepper) and I'm not paying attention and I end up pouring 1/3 of the can all over the front of my shirt.

I usually just chuckle and think, "well, it happens to all of us." I does, doesn't it?

Mmmm, clumsy. [Big Grin]

You know, I was just noticing today that the latest batch of Diet Dr Pepper from a particular store in town is far more flavorful than usual. I think I can actually taste something like pepper in this stuff.

I'd better go buy them out before they get a new batch. [Smile]

I love Dr Pepper. I haven't had any in days ...

I'm broke and also trying to keep away from caffeine. What a combination.

The East Hill CTB! [Big Grin]

The Dr Pepper I got from the gas station at 13 and 366 this morning was the same as usual, so I don't know where this CTB stuff is coming from. Mmmm. [Big Grin]

I have a personal Murphy's law that says any day that I wear a white dress shirt to work, I will spill coffee or pop on it. Never fails.

I've spent many minutes in the bathroom washing out my top, drying it under the hand blow drier, and coming back to the desk witha slightly damp shirt...

Someone just privately accused me of having a naughty double meaning in mind when I wrote my above post. I would like to assure you all that I meant nothing of the sort, and had to think about it for quite a while before I saw the potential entendre that was being referred to.

Not only was I genuinely not thinking that way, but he's my brother. Ewwwww! So anyone else who may have taken my message in any way other than perfectly straight-forward, I wish to inform you that YOU have a dirty mind. Yes, Enigmatic, you too.

Hm, I dashed out of work before I read that, but I grabbed one at the Ctown CTB. I feel like it's missing some flavor, maybe they left it out in my batch (expires 8-22-05) and put the extra into yours?

Oh Dr. Pepper, how thee can entertain us

I think we need to conduct a full Ithaca wide survey of Dr. Pepper and perhaps even nationwide, comparing the zestiness (or lack there of) of this drink of choice.

Yes, that was the little mental damage-control going through my head, event as the Dr Pepper puddle foamed up and soaked through my jeans: Shove the keyboard out of the way so the bit that did get on the desk didn't run that way.
Though really, I could have used the excuse to buy a new keyboard at this point.

As for the dirty minds, "lap" was not my first choice of words to describe where the majority of the Dr Pepper landed. However, after typing the "sticky" bit it sounded especially naughty so I changed it.

Cherry Vanilla Dr Pepper is like hummingbird food. In other words, pretty dang tasty. Diet Cherry Vanilla Dr Pepper just has too many words to be taken seriously.

I would like to have you all know that Dr. Pepper is not really a doctor. He is a FRAUD! No medical degree, not podiatry, not dentistry, not optometry, or chiropractic! No Ph.D. I think that he was a minister, but that "Reverend Pepper" wasn't selling so well, so they "promoted" him to doctor.

Now Dr. Brown really was a real bona fide M.D., and Dr. Brown's Cel-Ray soda is the bestest soda in the world.

The AMA would want you to drink Dr. Brown's, not Dr. Pepper!

I spilled some gatorade on my laptop keyboard before [Frown] . And then I tried to dry it with those keyboard cleaning liquid air cans. It was a good idea, but I tilted the bottle at a more than 45 degree angle, and liquid air spilled on my backspace and + keys, and they shrunk and shriveled. [Frown] . Luckily, I still had my warranty.

Right on, Kiwi. Dr Pepper is supremely yucksome. We hates it!

If I were in the soda making business, I'd make licorice-flavored soda. Yum!

Of the currently available flavors of soda, my favorite is Dr. Brown's Cel-Ray, followed by good old Coca Cola.

I tried the cherry vanilla, and it was like Dr. Pepper spiked with Robitussin. Feh!

I'd call my licorice soda "Ph.D. Black", and my slogan would be, "A higher degree of refreshment."

Perhaps I can pitch my idea to the Good 'n' Plenty people. I wonder if Choo Choo Charlie is still with that outfit?

Gosh YES!

My favoritest liquor is Arak, which tastes like Good'n'Plenty, but not at all sweet. It is crystal clear, but if you put it in the freezer or add ice, it turns milky-white.

Sometimes I pour a little over my vanilla ice cream.

The funny thing is that I don't like black licorice. But I like anise. Never had Arak.

But I make my martinis with a little vanilla sugar-sryup, so if you like Arak over vanilla ice cream you're pretty sure to like them. [Smile]

I think squirrels beat Dr. Pepper any day. >.>

Posted by Annie (Member # 295) on :

I really have to insert my obnoxious opinion in here now.

I've been completely spoiled for American soda since I began shopping exclusively in the import aisles. Mexico is brilliant and does just about everything neccessary to save the world. If you can get some Mexican apple soda (there are many brands, all equally fabulous, such as Sidral, Extra Poma and Manzana Lift) you must give it a try. Also fabulous is the Jarritos line of Mexican sodas, which you can even get here so I'm pretty sure you can get them everywhere. Tamarindo is the best thing ever made.

If you can find an asian import store, try the weirdest soda you can find. CoCo Rico is a pretty good Filipino coconut soda, and then there's always the cool Japanese one with the marble that's really too sweet, but the coolest ones will be the obscure ones. Aloe vera soda, red bean soda, green tea soda.

The import aisle's the way to go.

Annie,
Ever come across any licorice soda? There may be a vast untapped market just waiting for me to come along and exploit it.

Posted by kojabu (Member # 8042) on :

Grapefruit soda is pretty good, I had some of that in Italy. But sadly they had no Dr. Pepper so it was a long four months with Coke as my only option for dark soda.

Posted by Tante Shvester (Member # 8202) on :

Fresca is grapefruit soda. Alas, it only comes in diet.

I disagree, since I was trying it under the impression that it was delicious. The only reason he had to "make" me try it was because it was somewhat difficult to find over here, and I kept forgetting.

I don't like cherry flavoured coke, or anything really, so I hardly think cherry flavoured Dr Pepper is going to be nicer. [Razz]

It's not just Dr Pepper, either; I find most American candy oversweet. Not only is Dr Pepper too sweet, but as I recall it tastes like marzipan (assuming marzipan is the flavour of wedding cake icing...).

Posted by ElJay (Member # 6358) on :

Marzipan is not usually used on wedding cakes over here, no, it's usually royal icing. Marzipan I think is mostly almond paste, is the flavor you're thinking of at all almondy?

Posted by kojabu (Member # 8042) on :

Marzipan is the flavor of almond paste and some of the best stuff in the world!! Haven't been to enough weddings to know about the cake icing thing though.

Dr Pepper rules - Mr Pibb drools.

[Wink]

Posted by Kiwi (Member # 7982) on :

Hmm, I'm not sure. I found a website that says marzipan is usually used for cake decorating rather than to actually ice the entire cake, so perhaps it was cute little marzipan flowers that I was thinking of. [Razz]

I like almonds, but if marzipan is almond flavoured, then I guess I don't like almond flavouring. Does Dr Pepper taste in any way almondy? (I remember it having a taste I didn't like that reminded me of marzipan, but since I'm not sure that I have the correct memory of what marzipan tastes like, it could be anything really...)

Kiwi, I adore marzipan (which, while made primarily of almonds, has a taste quite distinct from plain almonds) and detest Dr. Pepper. Which I don't happen to think tastes anything like any kind of icing . . . [Dont Know]

Posted by Enigmatic (Member # 7785) on :

I'll second the bit about American candy being sweeter than most of the world (though I suspect Western European candy is similar). When I was in India and we went to a "sweet shop" everything was spongy cake type things with syrup or maybe some sort of frosting. There wasn't anything like American hard candy, which is basically colored sugar formed into different shapes (Nerds, SweetTarts, Jolly Ranchers, etc). The sweetest thing we found was basically a donut hole in a small dish of maple syrup.
