I have to vent to someone...

It is midnight and the apartment next door is blasting rap music with the bass as high a possible and there are people outside playing basketball on the court that is right next to my window!!!!

I guess thats what I get for living in a apartment complex full of fellow college students!

It could be worse. You could work in a place where they regularly blast loud rap music with the bass as loud as possible.

Trust me. At least in your apartment complex, you can politely ask them to turn it down or call the police.

Tstorm, where do you work, a nightclub?

call the cops. I did that on several occasions when my neighbors wouldn't turn down their music on a weeknight.

Fortunately, the music has stoped and the Basketball players have left the court!

Also notify your apartment managers. When I lived in Mississippi, my downstairs neighbor frequently played loud music. Finally, I told one of the managers. She told me to tell her if this happened again, that due to other complaints if this neighbor was noisy one more time, he would be evicted. Well, one night, it was very loud again. My floor was vibrating. I tried being nice and got dressed and knocked on his door in the middle of the night to ask him to lower the volume. But the music persisted. Though I felt bad as I knew what I meant, I did report this incident. Turns out, that neighbor had already been evicted. That night was his last night in the complex and he was playing the loud music out of anger. I also learned why this man't apartment always had a funny smell..the manager told me this man had a probable drug problem going on, I was likely smelling maijuana! You deserve peace and quiet!

Yes, you really should report it to the manager and document the day and time you called, as well as a detailed report of the incident. It helps to keep records.

The next time this happens, call the cops and report it the next day. At midnight, everyone deserves peace and quiet. Any noise at that level after 10pm is inappropriate.
