Our government sucks.

Sure, it's probably the best in the world, but that don't mean it's perfect, or doesn't need a big enema.

Our government sucks.

We need a new system of government.

Business should be Business,
and Public Service should be Public Service.

most of our "Plans" run at a length of 2 to 4 years, most with re-election the top priority.

We need a 1000 year plan.

If we can ask our brave young soldiers to give their lives so another country can have a shot at freedom, we can ask our older business men to drive smaller vehicles, since oil and gas fuel our enemies armies.

Oh, but you haven't met my progeny. He's a very nice boy. I'm sure you wouldn't mind him being your absolute ruler for life.

I suggest tyranny... Or maybe total monarchy.

OOOOhhhh !!! Better idea ! A system based on the random : each decision is deal with a coin at heads or tails.
Definitely neutral chaotic...

lol, great just when you think everyone forgot about the conspiracy to take over the world Tante aggrevates the siuation.

But ya sure I'ld vote for you for dictator for life.

I say Socialist Democratic Dictatorship essentially the people elect the Politburo who make all the decisions with Party Chairman as the head of state and the Premier as the Head of government.

And it will be a dictatorship considering that the state will have absolute power but within the confines of a democratic system. Now the problem is getting the government to not get nervous whenever an election comes around, I'ld say every 5 years at the start of a new 5 year plan so that the administration whether elected again or a different one elected can retool or adjust the Plan.

We could start by revamping the electoral college (not totally trashing it, though).

Communism is the best form of government that can exist...

as long as its Stalinist Communism...

and as long as you get to be Stalin.

We work just fine... and you've all been added to our list...

Especially Dan_raven and Sid Meirer... Communism is the root of all evil...

Now go about your business...

I prefer Leninist Stalinism eventually leads to yes manism and it becomes sluggish, you can't have coercion in a scientific society.

Choobak, you want Two-Face (the Batman villain) to run everything?

I was all for Communism in Civ2, but in Civ3 it pretty much sucks.

haha. I've been on your list Government, for a long, long, long time.

Check the guide--When the revolution comes, I'll be one of the first to be lined up against the wall and shot.

In fact, according to a copy of Hatrack Forum that happened to fall through a hole in the space time continu...continuem?...from the future...

quote:
When the revolution came, Dan Raven was the first to be lined up against the wall and be shot.

Gas is up to 2.42 cents here.

In the time Bush has taken office, him and his boys have had gas double. I guess the record profits aren't enough for the oil and gas companies cu we're giving them massive tax breaks in our "energy bill".

ok, I'm a die hard democratic, but Bush has sorta had things from the middle east throw the economy for a loop. I mean i think he is over compensating, but you have to cut him some slack on the oil...

Um. Exxon/Mobil was the SECOND largest contributor to his election.

"The squeaky wheel gets the grease."

Nothing wrong with that, an industry has to be loud to get any compassion from DC... and if their loud and have a big budget... All the better...

Gas going up in price doesn't necessarily mean higher profits for the oil companies. It's more expensive for them too.

That would have happend no matter who was in the presidential office. Bush doesnt contol foriegn Oil; FORIEGN means foriegn, not local.

No body really is the sorce for high gas prices. That sort of thing just tends to snowball. The Tankerds go into, lets say Iraq, at theyre own personal risk and buy Petrol at the best price they can (whith no guarantee of bottom price).

The Tankerds return to their respective unloading points and the company sales the oil to other companies (Distributors) at a competition driven up price.

Some times the Distributors are of the same compamny and get requisitioned the oil with a quota to fill as best they can.

Sometimes the Distributors are a third party opperation that have no tankerds or resources of their own and buy from older companies (at whatever price is considerd low today)and then make what little money they do by adding fuel additives like oats to meatloaf.

The Distributers take the Petrol and deliver it to their respective clients (Gas Stations) along with a bill for delivery.

It is my experience, that most people believe Distributer and Gas Station are of the same body. This of course is not even remotely true.

While some name brand Gas Stations have a SET Distributor, Most Gas Stations (Yes even the big name ones) are leased or privetly owned. Once you are self employed, you can go to a third party distributor.

Geting petrol from a distributor isnt like going to the super market for eggs! Once you have him you are under contract to him (and he you). If he tells you to raise/lower your gas prices, YOU HAVE TO set it to what he says. If you run out of gas or dont what that damn fuel additive (which is so worse for the enviroment then normal gas) he has to provide it to you at the going rate afforded to him by whatever price scale he made of it from the Tankerd Excursion (or from and older company if he bought it from them) expence verses profit.

So as you see the President of the United States, while he may be responcible for Federal Taxes, Exchange rate, or any other tax law that might be pushed through in his term, has nothing to do with Petrol (No matter who sits in his chair).

well, gas could've been cheaper without sanctions vs Iraq. *shrug*

As for Democratic Dictatorship, remember doublespeak? You should have to be able to hold two contradictory concepts in your head and accept them as truth. And its entirely possible for 5 years the people elect a government with full power and when the 5 year plan finishes elect them again with dictatorial power to do the next 5 year plan or if they failed to achieve their goals the people can elect a different Politbureau and Premier.
