SOFIA, BULGARIA - Bulgarian doctors tested a man's blood-alcohol level five times before accepting it was 0.914 – nearly twice the amount considered to be life-threatening.

It's an old article, but wow! Things like that just weird me out. How did he survive?!?

He's Bulgarian... [Wink]

Maybe he's a zombie.

Or a booze elemental.

Is that a percentage - i.e., almost 1 in 100 parts alcohol, or an actual proportion, 91 in 100 parts alcohol.

I assume the former, of course, but they need to be more precise with their units.

I think it is 91 in 100. If .08 is the legal limit, it sounds reasonable that that is 8 in 100. Don't go by my word though, I learned about it in school a few years ago so I might be wrong.

Isn't it possible that their analysis machine was consistently off?

Eight in a hundred whats? You mean to suggest that for every 100 ounces of blood in the body, there are 8 ounces of pure alcohol?

That just seems ... high to me, for some reason.

Certainly, a 90%+ figure seems impossible. Like trying to run a car on orange juice.

I think of it in percentages. .08 would therefore equal 8% blood alcohol content. After seeing this article though, I hardly think I was right. Someone having a 91.4% BAC doesn't sound possible.

Edit: Pretty much what you said Puppy.

I thought .08 meant that your blood was .08 percent alcohol. That would mean this guy had .914 percent alcohol, or just under 1 percent. That's quite a lot.

Jon Boy is right, AFAIK.

[ROFL]

Booze elementals take half damage from cold based attacks, but double damage from fire based attacks, at least according to second edition rules.

Ah, but Booze elementals have the advantage of not feeling pain. Therefore, they will always be some of your most valiant units (and the worst coordinated, but who's counting?).

Most times I see it listed as BAC %.

It's a pretty crucial distinction.

And everyone knows that booze forms a paraelemental, not an elemental.

it *is* a percentage... that is to say, in this case, just under 1% alcohol, which is freakin' amazing... that's nearly as drunk as I was that one night...
