I just discovered that a company called Legend Films is releasing several old movies, and they're giving Mike Nelson a commentary track. I've just purchased the following:

Carnival of Souls
Night of the Living Dead
Reefer Madness

They're also releasing House on Haunted Hill in a couple weeks, although if you're anxious enough that you don't mind paying double, an autographed version is already available from the manufacturer. I personally didn't think 10 days and a scribble was worth an extra $10, but that's just me.

Anyway, I don't want to sound like I'm using Hatrack to hawk someone elses' wares. I was just really excited to see Mike doing something new, and I thought I'd share. I hope I'm not the only fan on the board.

[Hail] Mike
[Hail] Joel

I wish they had kept doing the MST3K Summer Blockbuster Reviews. They did it for two summers then stopped the summer after Armageddon came out. Sure it's fun to watch them rip into bad old movies, but I want to see them rip into bad new movies too!

I already own 2 of those 3 movies on dvd, but I'm still tempted to buy them for the commentary! Is Mike's commentary supposed to be MST-style humor or serious discussion of the film? Reefer Madness is very mockable, but I don't think I'd want to listen to him trying to make fun of NotLD. That's a good horror movie.

I wish Mike would write more personally. I own two of his three books (Mind Over Matters and Death Rat), and they are both very good and very funny. I wish he'd write more since I'm always in need of a good laugh.
