This one is about whether global govenrment is practical or not, but what I don't like is that they do occasionally get distracted by their own arrogance sometimes. [Dont Know]

practical based on what? And what kind of global government? UN style, or a US style democracy en masse?

Based on history, I'd say no. Every global government that has been tried before has failed.

Its worth pointing out that many political scientists don't think a global government has ever been tried -- they find that commonly considered candidates are better thought of as "clubs" of governments rather than governments themselves.

That was worth pointing out. Thanks, fugu.

Actually they don't mention how it could work the guy argueing for the assumption says he's not arrogant enough to even try to come out with an outline with how it would work just point out the practibilities of why it would be beneficial, course thats not the only debate, many are interesting.

bumped up a notch

Sure I think a global government could work. But not now, and certainly not within any of our lifetimes.

The world has to change too much for any worldwide authority figure to be set up.

Well the point is not about that particular debate there are many debates being discussed reasonably so I think Hatrack should see all of them. Correction have the option of seeing them.

I don't feel like joining another forum just to debate something. We debate just fine here. We should have another of those "Hatrack Great Debate" things again. Didn't Hobbes moderate the last one?

Actually you cant actually join in those moderated debates, and the other subforums you wouldn't want to enter anyways, just saying you can view debates that have been finished or are proceeding great reads good if your preparing for a debate yourself.
EDIT: Whyd o I always forget the "t" in can't?
