For what operating system? And what purpose? Is it just for a few files that you will be uploading and downloading, or for files that will be available to the general public and see lots of traffic?

Windows XP, and ya the general public IE Hatrack sounds nice, I got some stuff which I think I can legally distribute.

For example I upload a file, 5 minutes later a hatracker types in the URL and then the password and from there proceeds to download the file.

So yes if its possible ot have a password that would be nice otherwise I'll do email requests.

Win XP comes with an FTP server. IIS can do it, and lets you set up passwords pretty easily.

A decent basic overview starts toward the bottom of this page.

One of the pages in this series includes a reference to a free server if you have XP home.
