Took me by surprise. I didn't know that it was a growing theory. I knew that dinosaurs were closely related to birds, but. Cool, man.

I knew about the theory, but only in the context of newly discovered species. I hadn't heard of the China find.
Very cool.

A few jatraqueros attended the flying dinosaurs exhibit last spring at CanadaCon 2.0, and there were lots of flying and otherwise feathered dinosaurs there.
The idea certainly makes them seem a little less.. terrifying.

Hagrid would approve.

Obviously you've never messed with the chickens in The Legend of Zelda 3: A Link to the Past. Feathers are terrifying!

Have you ever seen Chicken Run? That was some frightening poultry!
Imagine the scene in Jurassic Park: "Must go faster, must go faster!" "It has feathers, so how bad can it be? I'm not going to speed on this muddy road with a wimpy looking dinosaur behind me." *gets eaten*

I heard awhile ago that T-rex might've been feathered in the same way that a vulture is -- bare head and neck so the gore didn't get all mucked up in the head feathers.
I imagine it was a pretty ugly looking critter with or without feathers.

I just find this mental image extremely amusing.
Bob's vulture idea...not so much, although it does sound more practical.

Artist's conception of what a feathered dinosaur may look like (from the National Geographic website).
Weird.

Yeah. Looks like a kid playing dress-up.

I actually found their models to be far more terrifying because of the feathers. I expect something that big and freaky to look devoid of all cuddliness; but with those feathers it looked like a giant, demented doll out of a cheap horror flick come true. Dead freaky, I tell you.

Sunny days, sweepin the clouds away On my way to where the air is sweet...
(I'll never be able to see Big Bird the same again)

For some reason Bob's comment makes me think of the bird monster from the Luck Child episode of The Storyteller. I think it was supposed to be a griffin, iirc.

Maybe they looked something like this: Tweety...

>>dinosaurs evolved the ability to fly and that some even developed all four limbs into wings.
This scans like the creature had four wings. Is that what it means?
