I was just curious what sort of ringtones you guys have on your cellphones (yes Megan, you too [Big Grin] ). I appreciate that not all of you have cellphones, so I don't need lectures, haha... I only got mine a little over a month ago, and really wish I didn't have to have one, but I have no other phone, so it's a bit necessary.

Anyway, my phone plays the Pink Panther theme when it goes off. [Smile]

What about you?

The five-note tune from Close Encounters.

Posted by Farmgirl (Member # 5567) on :

Oh man -- Goo Boy - where did you get that? I wanted that, but I had to "create" it myself on the custom tune part of my phone. And it's not exactly true to tone.

FG

Posted by Raia (Member # 4700) on :

Yeah, I tried to "create" some of the PotC music for my tone, but it didn't work so well. So I stuck with the Pink Panther.

It's awesome, though, because whenever someone calls me, everyone starts dancing.

I don't have a cellphone yet, but when I do get one, my ringtone is going to be something Final Fantasy related. I'm thinking maybe the Chocobo theme at first, though I'll probably change it every now and then. But yeah, Final Fantasy. Definitely.

My ringtone is the sound of an old fashioned telephone ringing.

*blink* I'm sorry, each of y'all only uses one ringtone?

Like Noemon, mine rings. Like a phone. Which it is.

I suddenly feel the urge to shout "Get of my lawn!"

Posted by Taalcon (Member # 839) on :

The main overworld theme from OldSchool Zelda.

Although my Alarm Clock ring is J-E-N-O-V-A from Final Fantasy VII, although it used to be the theme from 24.

I know. I'm a geek.

It's called "Silent".

Posted by Narnia (Member # 1071) on :

When someone calls me from home, my phone plays "The Imperial March" from Star Wars.

When JemmyGrove calls, it plays my own little samba composition.

When anyone else calls, it plays the Aria from the Goldberg Variations by J.S. Bach. (That was my first download, just to tell you how much of a nerd I am.) [Big Grin]

Posted by pfresh85 (Member # 8085) on :

I can't get any fancy ones on my phone, so I have to choose from the default list. At the moment, it's Cinematica.

When my wife calls I've got some really frantic annoying sound from the pre-programmed melodies, it reminds me of her lovely voice.

When a wrestler from my team calls I have a standard melody that was pre-programmed in that sounds kind of tough.

Everyone else gets the Super Mario Song from the original NES.

*joins Narnia in nerdhood* Mine plays Brahms's Hungarian Dance No. 5.

Of course not. When you call, my ringtone is set to "silent" mode. Maybe that's why I haven't answered...crikey!

I have the guitar intro from Can't Stop by the Red Hot Chili Peppers. I used the voice recorder on my cell to record it and then set it as my ring tone. I wasn't sure how to download ring tones.

Posted by Raia (Member # 4700) on :

I can't use more than one ringtone, I'll get confused, and not know that the phone is mine.

Narnia, that's AWESOME. I almost downloaded a beautiful classical piece, but then I didn't.

I don't like my phone to play music. It rings like a phone. Or it vibrates. Ot both.

(Is that a cellphone vibrating in your pocket, or are you just happy to see me?)

Indeed.

Thankfully, I don't have a cellphone. My pockets are full enough as it is given the iPod and the Game Boy Advance, plus the wallet that is too large for my taste.

Yeah. If I did have a cell phone, it would have a good old-fashioned telephone ring. Or just vibrate. Otherwise I would consider it obnoxious.

Currently it's a weird musical thing that I typically don't even know is me ringing. Before my last phone was stolen, I had an old bell-style telephone ring for most of my contacts with one person set to permanent silent mode because she has absolutely no concept of "acceptable call times" (i.e. she routinely calls while I'm at work).

I haven't yet downloaded new tones for the current phone. I'm thinking Fraggle Rock (which will drive my 12 year old insane, she HATES that show), Wicked, Phantom, and/or Monty Python. Possibly a combination of the above.

I have beetoven's 9th (ode to joy) for all my highschool friends, at least the musical ones, which inlcludes raia, the non musical one gets my unknown ring

family gets home on the range

and unknown gets this weird computer sounding theme, nothing i know.

My mom has Greensleeves on hers, but Beetoven's 5th for the orchestra boosters, whom she talks to much less since I've graduated, and when she does, it can be a quite annoying call.

Cellphones that don't just ring annoy me, but not as much as the owners' of said phones who insist only letting the whole song play before they'll even consider answering.

That and people who ride for miles with a turn signal on I'll never understand.

When Lindsay calls Gir sings the DOOM song.

When Ron Fowler calls it's a futurama quote "Let us out! We cooked our shoes in the dryer and ate them, now we're bored"

When Mark Fowler calls it's Homer talking about Triangles (Wrongly)

When my Dad calls Homer shouts USA USA!

Jonesy calls and i hear Prof Farnsworth "Let this abomination unto the Lord begin!"

Olivia is still unassigned, as is my mom, and lots of other people so i hear The Flaming Lips singing The Spark That Bled

When my husband calls it used to be Babe by Styx. But when I got my new phone I couldn't find that ringtone anywhere and I am majorly bummed. Mr. Mom (you know that country song) just isn't the same though it fits since he is the stay at home dad right now.

For everyone else its Chicago "Does anybody really know what time it is"

Does anyone know where the rington Babe by Styx is? I'd really like to get it again. Or do you know how to get a ringtone from one motorola v180 phone to a motorola v300?

There'd be two choices of a song I'd use. Personally, I don't have a cell phone and I don't want one.

But, if I had to have one, it'd either be Popcorn or one of my favorites, I Hate Cellphones. The composer left a link to download a midi ring tone... how nice. http://www.nrelement.com/nrelement_ihatecellphones_ringtone.mid

My main ringtone is Darth Vader saying, "The Dark Side of the Force is calling you."

When music-related people call, it plays "Lap Dance" by N.E.R.D.

I also have "Damn, I Wish I Was Your Lover" (Sophie B. Hawkins) and "Spitting Games" and "Chocolate" by Snow Patrol.

Valdosta Friends-Real recording of Beethoven's 9th(only ringtone I have down loaded)

Bloomington Friends-In the Hall of the Mountain King

Informational Numbers-Cinguar Sound

Do Not Anwer(The group for boys that have my number that shouldn't)-A really annoying rendition of the Prelude to the 1st Bach suite

Regular ring, regular phone. Why would I want people to interrupt me when I'm not home?

"That and people who ride for miles with a turn signal on I'll never understand. "

Oddly, the 2001 prius has no turn signal indicator sound, and also has very poor turn signal cancelling. Probably the most advanced car on the road, and my turn signals are perpetually on. (Well, I'm getting better at noticing)

On our electric car, the turn signal doesn't turn off by itself at all. (It's a "feature"! [Smile] ) You have to flick the lever back yourself. If you've been driving it a lot, it's easy enough to remember, but if you've been driving a regular car, then it gets easy to forget.

Nothing like being behind a slow moving vehicle going down the street with its blinker on!

For some reason, my phone doesn't do vibrate. It's really annoying. It does silent, but not vibrate. Grr.

Posted by rivka (Member # 4859) on :

Are you sure? On some phones, it's the lowest volume setting instead of a ring setting.

Posted by Raia (Member # 4700) on :

Oh, really? *tests*

Posted by rivka (Member # 4859) on :

Oh, and my ringtones. Most people get Melody 9 (sort of upbeat jazzy elevator music); the ex triggers Melody 4 (frenetic bit that reminds me of circuses); several good friends have been assigned Melody 3 (it's a snippet of something Decembery, but I don't know what); my parents get Bell 3 (an ascending ringtone scale).

I presume these all have names, but I don't actually know what they are. [Dont Know]

What phone model do you have, Raia?

Posted by Carrie (Member # 394) on :

I only use the given ones, but I heard a girl's phone ring today to "Jingle Bells."

I have always wanted the Imperial March, ever since I heard it in the British Museum at the Roman collection.

I have a Nokia 6010.

Posted by rivka (Member # 4859) on :

Ok, then try this:
quote:
Customize
1 Select Menu > Profiles and the profile you want to customize.
2 Select Customize and one of the following options:
Vibrating alert—Set the vibrating alert on or off. Your phone has an internal
vibrating mechanism so you do not need a special battery to use this feature. In
some profiles, the vibrating alert default is Off, so the lights may not flash unless
you change the default.

Does that work?

Yes, and that's SOOOOOOOOO wrong... I'm trying to convince her that resistance is futile and that she will be assimilated... even if I have to turn her into a Gorg. LOL My 8 year old, on the other hand, will spend hours singing the theme song from the slightest cue. Of course, she also quotes Monty Python, endless Disney movies, and a little bit of Princess Bride. She at least will make a good Hatracker in time!

I've got a Nokia 3120 that lets me record my voice and use it as a ringtone, so my phone shouts, "HEY STEVE. PICK UP THE PHONE. pICK UP THE PHONE RIGHT NOW, BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE!" etc.

When I'm in a business meeting, I change it over to a whisper, "hey, steve; you're phone is ringing. psst....pick up the phone, steve..."

Best time was riding back from NY on the train, and it rang, on loud, in the middle of the car.

I was ina faculty meeting today, where thepolice had come over to help us revamp our emergency response procedures. They were showing us a slideshow on Columbine, when sudenly my phone goes off: dun DUN dun dun DUNNNNnnnnn . . . " [Embarrassed]

Thank goodness it was a phone call and not a reminder. My reminder sound is Han Solo saying, "I have a really bad feeling about this." [Angst]

Posted by Narnia (Member # 1071) on :

ssywak, I've experimented with having my phone say "Help! Help! I'm stuck in your purse!! Take me out!" or something to that effect. [Smile] I haven't had the guts to do that, but it's a funny thought.
