quote:

Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania (AP) - A seven-year-old boy was at the center of a Alleghany County courtroom drama yesterday when he challenged a court ruling over who should have custody of him. The boy has a history of being beaten by his parents and the judge initially awarded custody to his aunt, in keeping with child custody law and regulations requiring that family unity be maintained to the degree possible.

The boy surprised the court when he proclaimed that his aunt beat him more than his parents and he adamantly refused to live with her. When the judge then suggested that he live with his grandparents, the boy cried out that they also beat him.

After considering the remainder of the immediate family and learning that domestic violence was apparently a way of life among them, the judge took the unprecedented step of allowing the boy to propose who should have custody of him. After two recesses to check legal references and confer with child welfare officials, the judge granted temporary custody to the University of Pittsburgh Panthers Football Team, whom the boy firmly believes are not capable of beating anyone.

Several years ago I heard a similar story about the New York Yankees. Ah, the good old days.

Hm. Is this just one of those chain emails? I would say it's pretty tasteless if someone made it up.

I'm sure it's made up

I wouldn't say that the mere mention of the Pitt Panthers makes it automatically unfunny.

because of the subject matter, is this considered and anti-joke?

I think it's hysterical.

I laughed.

It's an old joke. I must of heard it 20 years ago.

As the final authority in such matters, I declare that this joke is, indeed, funny.

It is a very old joke, but it's still entertaining. [Big Grin]

Wow….. I was reading thinking no one got the joke. Glad it got better as it went along. West Virginia University’s arch nemesis is the University of Pittsburgh. The game is called the backyard brawl and is always intense. Oh and in case you don’t know Pitt is 0-3 so far this year.

I never thought it would offend anyone and I apologize for that, but I guess every joke offends somebody. Just thought something a little lighter might be good since things have been so heavy lately.

I know when I first read it I was thinking wow, poor kid. It was on a sport’s message board and I didn’t think it really fit as I was reading it. Then when I got to the punch line I literally laughed out loud. Think I startled my office mate a bit.

I chuckled. [Big Grin]

I have never heard the joke before, so I read the case in horror. When I reached the end, I was shocked that it just a stupid joke.

Sorry to be a spoilsport, because I usually love dark and crazy humor, but I didn't like this.

Definitely heard this one years ago about the Chicago Bears. Could be said about pretty much any Chicago sports team, though.
