I'm looking for some good Urban Fantasy books in an effort to get a feel for the genre .

Pat Murphy's The City Not Long After isn't really urban fantasy (well, you could make the argument that it is, but it doesn't read that way to me), but it's a pretty interesting use of magical realism in a post-apocalyptic urban setting.

I am reading Onion Girl now, and it is excellent.
I really like De Lint.

I am not a big fan of the urban setting fantasy books, usually, but Brooks Demon series was far better than I expected, and it was probably his best story and writing. I recommend it highly.

I finally picked up Onion Girl this summer after having read one of Charles de Lint's short stories the year before. He's an Ottawa writer and so I sort of felt compelled to read something by him.
I really loved it and I bought Spirits in the Wires to read on my holiday, and it was just as good.
