I wasn't always a masochist. In fact I wasn't a masochist at all until very recently. Then something strange happened. I got off my medicine, school started, ROTC started, I was keeping my room clean, I was reading the scriptures every day (nearly), I was saying my prayers, was brushing my teeth every day, shaving and showering more than once a month, and being told how much better I had bee doing better in all walks of life. Then... this... this uncontrollable urge to start exercising came up, I don't know where it came from, or why it came. My only hypothesis is that aliens have somehow taken over my brain and forced me to lead a better life. So now, every week day at one point during the day I find myself lumbering on a treadmill blowing like an ashmatic elephant and drenched in sweat. I can only conclude that if it wasn't aliens, I have gone crazy. There are advantages to going crazy though. Suddenly, a hug does not become a token of affection but a significant threat*. Plus you don't always feel self conscious**. You look better***. Plus post excerciseing, you get a sense of euphoria caused by chemicals in the brain that are made while you exercise. This is called the "runner's high"****. Another benefit, now instead of being just bigger than everybody else, you're also stronger than everybody else*****. I might enjoy being crazy, but it is somewhat perplexing.

*This only works preshower while you're still sweaty.
**I haven't reached this point yet, but I'm told it will happen.
***This only happens gradually and it does take time.
****I didn't know about this until I researched why I suddenly feel good all the time.
*****There is a surprising amount of satisfaction to this.

Not so much evidence of masochism as of easing up on the sadism. We thank you.

The end of your post looks like you're bleeping out a bunch of swear words. [Smile]

Endorphins are wonderful things.

Be prepared for depression when you quit working out and discover how much worse you look and feel.

I'm just worried I'll suddenly get the urge to start eating healthy. That would be a fate worse than death.

Healthy =! taste like crap, you know. There are a lot of things that are both good for you AND healthy.

Or so I have been told. [Big Grin]

A pity that such items are so hard to find.
