I hope the rumors are true. I saw her shortly in a movie that was on tv. She looks like the perfect Professor Umbridge..
I did imagine Umbridge looking like the lady who plays Professor Sprout... but she already has a part.

I know... I'm on a Harry Potter spree today.

She'd be perfect! She was nominated for an Oscar last year, and gave the most delightful interviews about it. I'd love to see her.

Yea I imagined her looking more like Sprout, but she looks like a good Umbridge, as long as she's not smiling of course.

Yeah, she'd be great. They won't even have to fudge her height. [Big Grin]

I didn't know about the Oscar nom - I love it when stage actors become successful in film too. [Smile]

Ugh! No way! She'd be a horrible Umbridge! She's too... she's so... well, she's almost pretty! Umbridge is supposed to be froglike, inspiring revulsion and evilness just by looking at her. No, no, no, this won't do at all.

Makeup could easily take care of the toad-face thing, but I think most of the revulsion would come as a result her acting ability.

Erm, that is, she's a great actor and would be able to revolt us on purpose, not that we'd be revolted by her acting in a bad way. [Razz]

But she doesn't have the body of a toad. She has a neck, for one thing. And she's not round enough and she has too much of a nose. There's a limit to what makeup effects and body padding can do without making it look hopelessly fake. Are they going to put her on a diet of lard and sugar so she puts on enough weight and amputate half of her fingers to make them look stubbier? It just won't work.

Who's the bozo directing this anyway? I want Whosit Cuaron back!

*googles more recent pics of her, as the most recent thing Nell has seen her in was Twelfth Night, where she was a bit chubby*

Hmm...true. The only other actress I thought of for this part is Jenny Galloway, but she's not as well-known in the film world. Plus I think her speaking voice is too low-pitched - the thing that makes the character for me is that annoying little-girl voice.

True. Although that can be fixed by dubbing.

There's only so much you can do wthout magic.
