Apparently these worms live off of the bones from whale carcasses that sink to the ocean floor. Has anyone else ever heard of these? I'd never thought about what happened to whale bodies, other than assuming that scavengers would eat the meat. I guess these worms function the way that fungi do in our more terrestrial realm. It sounds fascinating, in a somewhat macabre way.
