(Very minor spoilers for Wyrms and less minor spoilers for Moose Household)

While I don't know of any prophecies regarding me or my lineage, I have been thus far unable to provide an additional X chromosome. So yeah, the next Mooseling is going to be another boy. I'm experiencing a mixture of disappointment (I wanted a girl) and relief (I kinda already know what to do with boys).

So now we not only have to think of a real life boy's name, but another screenname as well. Suggestions are welcome, except that Bob_Scopatz is not allowed to suggest any version of Bob. Again. *smile*

I have always liked the name Andrew.

Congratulations, Moose.

I suggest Bob.

Nice strong name.

Congratulations on your upcoming baby boy! I'm sure he will be a wonderful addition to your already fabulous household!

I've always been partial to Bullwinkle the Moose. So, how about Bullwinkle? Or just Winkle?

But that's for the screen name, of course.

My favorite boy's name is David.

Posted by Anna (Member # 2582) on :

Daniel.
And congrats on a new family member on the way!

Posted by katharina (Member # 827) on :

Congratulations!!

I, too, like the name Bob. [Smile]

Congratulations [Smile]

Posted by starLisa (Member # 8384) on :

Well, Spider Robinson has a moose in one of his books, but I don't suppose you'd want to use that moose's name.

Posted by breyerchic04 (Member # 6423) on :

Boys are boring.

Back to reality, congratulations, and can't wait till your new little moosling arrives, no matter what his name is. I second bullwinkle, but am apposed to naming your child Bob, I'm pretty sure he'd figure out by 2 he was named in honor of Mr Traffic Safety from an internet message board. [Wink]

Congrats Mike!

I think I may have similar luck when I start having kids.

My Dad had three boys. His brother had 4 boys. My older brother had a baby recently, and surprise! Its a boy.

So far the Meyer men have been 8/8 on getting a boy.

Me and Niki both want a girl someday, but the odds don't look good.

Posted by Noemon (Member # 1115) on :

Does Mooselet have any opinions on a good name for him?

Posted by mackillian (Member # 586) on :

Pat!

Posted by Farmgirl (Member # 5567) on :

(shouldn't the thread title be "where's an Angel when you need her??? ) *wink*

I'm sorry you didn't get your "daddy's girl" this time around, but you will have more chances!

Well, since you already have one boy named after one of my grandfathers (Carl), then I will suggest you name this one after my other grandfather (Cecil) - or you can use my great-grandfather's name (Frederick).

LOL [Smile]

I'd like to see more boys named Cameron (Cam), Pete, or Theodore (Theo).

Edited to add: And I figured you'd found a vampire nest in the basement.

Posted by The Pixiest (Member # 1863) on :

how about Ignacio. You could call him "Nacho".

Or how about Javier.

Why do I like spanish names for guys...

Posted by Joldo (Member # 6991) on :

I vote David. 's one of my favorite names.

That, or Alvin, Simon, or Theodore.

Posted by ClaudiaTherese (Member # 923) on :

Javier is great. I also like Jake.

Posted by breyerchic04 (Member # 6423) on :

Papa Moose isn't going to name a kid after an OSC charecter, it's the other way around!

Posted by blacwolve (Member # 2972) on :

Congrats!

One of my favorite boys names is Merrill. If you name your son that, then your son and my hypothetical son will be namemates.

Posted by Storm Saxon (Member # 3101) on :

You could give him the noble Southern name of 'Peanut'.

Posted by kojabu (Member # 8042) on :

Some of my fave boy's names are James, Luke, and Jacob. But no shortening for James and Jacob.

Posted by mackillian (Member # 586) on :

Luke, however, will be called Lu.

Posted by Joldo (Member # 6991) on :

Or Lulu, even.

Posted by dkw (Member # 3264) on :

Or even Lulu. Although I guess that isn't shorter.

Posted by Joldo (Member # 6991) on :

*points and laughs at dkw's slow posting*

Posted by kojabu (Member # 8042) on :

You could call him Ke. I was thinking Luke instead of Lucas, like just Luke as the name.

Posted by Mama Squirrel (Member # 4155) on :

Please keep the suggestions coming.

Andrew is out - my brother's name

Daniel is out - Pop's brother's name

Patrick it out - initials would be PMS (assuming the middle name of Michael, which this baby will probably have). We actually really liked Patrick Michael when we were discussing names for Superstation, but the initials ruled it out.

Peter is out - also for the initials

Jacob is out - Pop's nephew

Luke is out - I mentioned it, but it is not growing on Pop

James is out - I have two uncles named James

David is out - I have a cousin named David, and the name just doesn't jump out at me

Pop does want a longish name that can be shortened in some way.

Nathaniel

Posted by Joldo (Member # 6991) on :

Gabriel, shortened to Gabe.

Brian is a good name.

I'm just saying.

Malcom/Mal! Or Jayne/ . .. J! Or . . . or . . . Operative/Op!

Raymond or Ray

Charles; Carl

Frank; Francis

Well, since you won't accept the greatest name, Daniel, might I suggest Alexander.

You could call him Sasha for short.

And put a sticky on this thread Mr. Janitor, like you do the other GREAT NEWS threads.

Congratz to all the Moose and Squirrells.

What does a Moose-Squirrel hybrid look like?

*imagines a tree dwelling quadruped with antlers and a bushy tail*

Name: Chaise

Screen Name: The Spawn of Bullwinkle

Walter. Can be shortened to Walt.

Yes, I know. It's an old-fashioned name. But, my father was named Walter, called Walt by everyone. He was a good man, the most intelligent person I've ever known (book smart and common sense smart), and everyone liked him. Everyone.

Noah Michael

John Michael

Geoffery Michael

Isaac Geoffery Michael - IGMS [Smile]

Congrats, I love my boys and I know you love yours.

Posted by Mama Squirrel (Member # 4155) on :

For Joldo

Noah - another nephew

John - two uncle John's and a cousin Jon, too many Johns

Brian - my step-brother

Joseph - my step-sister's ex (we actually considered this one last time anyway)

quote:
Isaac Geoffery Michael - IGMS

[ROFL]

Warren Michael was the other option for Mooselet. Maybe we will revisit that one. But how do you shorten Warren?

Posted by breyerchic04 (Member # 6423) on :

you shorten it to "the baby"

Posted by SteveRogers (Member # 7130) on :

Warren could be Waen, or Wayne. I guess.......

Posted by Enigmatic (Member # 7785) on :

I think you'd want to shorten Warren to Ren, personally. But then, I watch to many cartoons.

--Enigmatic

Posted by imogen (Member # 5485) on :

I think Joseph is a really nice name. Shortened to Joe. [Smile]

(Step-sister's ex or otherwise).

Or...

Nicholas? (Nick)
Matthew? (Matt)

Posted by Bella Bee (Member # 7027) on :

Congrats! [Big Grin]

Name suggestions - um, not too short, mustn't start with P, possibility of nice nicknames...

Mathias
Ethan
William
Robert
Christopher
Gregory
Benjamin
Alfred
Lawrence
I must second Nathaniel. There are not enough Nathaniels in this world. Love that name.

Posted by JaimeBenlevy (Member # 6222) on :

How about Jaime (James)? There needs to be more boys named Jaime so people won't think I'm a girl for the rest of my life when hearing my name [Wink] And for a screenname, how about something with Hart in it, Hart being a name for a deer (going along with Squirrel and Moose theme) and part of a name of one of OSC's book [Smile]

Posted by breyerchic04 (Member # 6423) on :

Jackson would work, and I like it, except for Jackson Michael does not work. Nathaniel, Benjamin, Alexander all sound good.

Posted by T_Smith (Member # 3734) on :

Nathaniel is a very nice name, and can be shortened twice to Nathan or Nate. As a plus, it's a very nice long name to use when angry. I wouldn't think Nathaniel Michael would be a good combo, though.

As far as screen names go, I vote for Bat Boy, maybe even Sasquatch/Bigfoot.

Posted by breyerchic04 (Member # 6423) on :

Nathan Michael might work

Posted by Lyrhawn (Member # 7039) on :

Howard or Austin.

Or go extreme, Seqouya! or Dash!

Or go ancient, Hieronymous! or Gaius!

Or go foriegn, Jean-Luc! or Pavel!

Or go honorary, Theodore! or Franklin Delano!

Or go storybook, Aragorn! or Atrayu!

Or go brand new, Harbino! or Aquanum!

Or go verb, Strike! or Burn!

Or go city names, Paris! or L'anse Cruz!

Or go brand name, Nike! or Citizen (Citizen Moose!)(That's misleading though, Nike is a greek goddess...thus...)

Or go Mythological God, Ares! or Eros!

Or go Mythological Hero, Heracles! or Hector!

Or go pet name, Scooter! or Rover!

Or go furniture, Armoire! or Chaise!

Or go appliance, Range! or Mixer!

Or go electronics, Digital! or Analog!

Or go nautical, Yardarm! or Knot!

Or go pirate, Blackbeard! or Arrrg!

Really the possibilities are endless, anyone want to pick up where I left off?

Posted by Joldo (Member # 6991) on :

Mama Squirrel: I'm confused. Where's the antlers we traditional associate with moose? And why aren't they in trees?

Posted by imogen (Member # 5485) on :

Thinking back to my suggestions - Matthew Michael not so great.

Nicholas Michael is ok though.

Benjamin Michael? (I really like Benjamin as a name [Smile] )

Hmmm...

Anthony Michael (Tony)
Adrian Michael
Sebastian Michael

Posted by Shan (Member # 4550) on :

Nathan Michael is perfect, and Nathan can be shortened to Nate or even to Tate.

And besides, my darling angel boy is named Nathan Michael.

*grin*

On the other hand, there's always Bob.

*giggle*

Posted by breyerchic04 (Member # 6423) on :

I love a little boy named Tate, he's so cute, and his sister could say the name fairly young too (I find this a bonus).

Posted by SteveRogers (Member # 7130) on :

How about Jefferson Michael, shortened to Jeff. Or you could even call him Mike.

Posted by Papa Moose (Member # 1992) on :

Thank you -- these are great suggestions.

Posted by amira tharani (Member # 182) on :

Robert Michael - shortened to Rob or Bob?

Posted by Nell Gwyn (Member # 8291) on :

I've always had a fondness for Lucien Michael...but sadly, it's probably likely that a boy named Lucien would get beat up a lot. Nonetheless, I think it's a great name. [Smile]

And as a Hatrack nickname, how about something squirrel-related in honor of Mama? Maybe Squirrelet? [Razz]

Posted by SteveRogers (Member # 7130) on :

His Hatrack name could be:

Chipmunk!

Posted by Dr Strangelove (Member # 8331) on :

ok, seriously people. I'm getting a bit offended. Why has the name "Joshua" not been mentioned? Its personally one of my favorite names. Heck, I like it so much, I'm named it. hehe. Seriously though, since it hasnt' been suggested, consider it ... yeah, suggested. And also Jonathan has always been a favorite name of mine.

Posted by Belle (Member # 2314) on :

His Hatrack name should be Reepicheep! Yes, I know Reepicheep was a mouse not a squirrel, but hey a rodent's a rodent, right? And it's a cool name.

Posted by akhockey (Member # 8394) on :

Caleb.

Caleb is a sweet name. Plus, nobody has it so your kid won't constantly have to hear "his" name being spoken when it was really being spoken to another namemate.

But, for the love of everything good on this planet, don't spell it weirdly. That irks me. I've seen so many people lately who intentionally misspell their kids' names. Why. What's the point?

Posted by imogen (Member # 5485) on :

If you had seen Buffy Season 7 you would no longer think of Caleb as sweet name.

*shudder*

Posted by akhockey (Member # 8394) on :

How dare they besmirch the Honorable and Good name of Caleb by naming a Buffy baddie with it. Booooo. I never saw the 7th season, so I don't know how frightening he was.

At least he had a sweet name though. [Smile]

Posted by Cali-Angel-Cat (Member # 8799) on :

What about Jamison Micheal? Could call him Jay or Jamie for short.

imogen, did you know that the same actor who played Caleb on Buffy also played Mal on Firefly & the Serenity movie? Bizarre, eh?

Posted by ReikoDemosthenes (Member # 6218) on :

Congratulations you two!!

*happyhappy*

As for names, Sawyer has always been a bit of a favourite, for myself. And yes, that was long before I ever watched LOST.

Posted by quidscribis (Member # 5124) on :

Congrats! But really, couldn't you have given this thread a title that, I dunno, hinted at what it was about? Cuz I didn't click on it until now and would've missed things...

Oh, and how about Bob?

Posted by Papa Moose (Member # 1992) on :

I assumed people would read the thread simply because I wrote it, not because of the title. Oh well. I was lacking humility lately anyway. *smile*
