No politics, please. Just thanks to those who have served their countries, especially in times of war. (I know "Veteran's Day" is a US holiday, but since it's commemorating the end of WWI, I mean to extend it to soldiers everywhere).

It's not just a US holiday. That's why I'm home in front of the computer right now. [Big Grin] And although I don't directly know anyone that has fought in that war I'm grateful to those who helped win it.

It's actually quite a world wide holiday. It's called "Rememberance Day" in Canada.

Just went to the ceremony, although I got there a little after eleven because of a class (we don't get the day off). Jumped every 21 times they fired the guns.

Happy Veteran's Day! What a great way to spend a holiday too, cause right now it's snowing! It might not be a big deal to a lot of you, but I grew up in Mesa, AZ, where it never snows, so I'm pretty excited. [Big Grin]

Yes, happy Veteran's Day. My husband always wears his Class A's when he goes out on this day. Gotta love guys in nice uniforms [Wink] .

A day to be both somber and to exalt, for those lost and those who came home.

I could only call my Granddad and leave a message for him saying how proud of him I am and how deeply moved I am by the sacrifices he willingly made.

He carries shrapnel to this day close to his heart, and I'll always carry him just as closely in mine for that and so much more.

My grandpa went to a Hanger Dance in Texas when he got back down there (he migrates in the winter [Smile] ) from summering in Michigan, and apparently while all the vets were there, they stopped them all to ask about what war they fought in and what they did there, and then compiled it all and put in on a website.

And here's my grandpa! [Smile] If you click on the little play button you can hear him talk about where he was stationed and what battles he fought in.

Oh dear, I was very mistaken about Vet's Day.

I did find it curious that Veterinarians had their own holiday...
