So who is this market for this? Wouldn't anyone that is actually likely to purchase this just go straight to the publisher? It not like any individual is about to run out and buy this.

Edit: Some of the comments are great:

This is an orgy for a book-lover. I have had a wonderful time from the moment I placed the order. They arrived in 25 boxes shrink-wrapped on a wooden pallet, over 750 lbs. of books. It took about twelve hours to unpack them, check them off the packing list (one for each box), and then check them off the list we downloaded from Amazon.com. They take up about 77 linear feet.

If I'm going to spend that kind of money I want hardback.

Oddly enough, some one had a breif tirade against comments of that nature in the reviews . . .

Hmm...If they were in hardback and we had the available money, we might order something like that. But we already have several complete hardback sets that are included in this: Dickens, Kipling, and Victor Hugo.

I suppose it might be nice to have them all match, but since they don't have the complete works of most authors there would still be unmatching books on the shelves.

If you want complete sets of books for a decent price, try library book sales. A lot of times they get donations of books that they sell, so they don't even have library bindings. Probably a good half of the books we own come from library sales.

I guess that would be good if you were trying to stock a reading room in a semi-public place or something. For a personal library, I'd definetely prefer hardbacks.

edit: but I like this one a lot better. [Smile]

Approximately 700 pounds in weight, the titles would tower 828 feet if you stacked them lengthwise atop each other--almost as tall as the Empire State Building.
Ooh! Let's try it!

I'm tempted to order the Children's collection...

I've never been so tempted to post my Amazon affiliate link as I am now. [Big Grin]

A couple of sales and I can retire....

I prefer my books to have stories behind them. I remember how I got all the books I own and although many of them were bought at once I wouldn't want all of them to be!

Jeniwren, if that's the ammount of money you were thinking of spending for Christian's school, do it. That seems to be a great collection, and would be a pretty good price for them. It would be like an immeadiate library.

I got this all on a CD 10 years ago. I still haven't read a single book off of it.

Some of those books can be read at Project Gutenberg online for free.

And, besides, I already don't have room for the books I have.

I'm dissapointed that no one piped up to say they had bought one. Come on hatrack, don't let me down.
