Anyone watching this right now on NBC? I only saw bits and pieces of the original, but there's been a remake. Adam Baldwin-- "Jayne Cobb" from Firefly-- is in it.
A part of me wants sit down and predict who will drown/be shot/get horribly mutilated by the end of this film...

Adam Baldwin? Of the Baldwin family? I thought Canada bombed there mansion?

Adam Baldwin is not related to any of the other famous Baldwins (Alec, Stephen, etc.)

I, unfortunately, suffered through the entire 3 hours of this movie, because Adam Baldwin is almost always worth watching. Simply put, the movie was not good. I should have known I was in trouble when I saw that Steve Guttenberg had a big part. The heyday of Police Academy is long gone.

What made ship turn over in the original movie? How did the escape hole get made in the original?

**Spoilers for 1972 Poseidon Adventure**
In the original movie, a huge tidal wave capsized the ship. The survivors made their way to the hull where they pounded on the hull until a rescue team cut through the hull with blow torches.

SPOILER ON ORIGINAL MOVIE!!!!
In the original, the ship was overturned by a "tidalwave" (i.e. a tsunami).
In the original, the survivors make it through a maze of wreckage to the bottom hull of the ship (now the top-most point) where a rescue crew cuts a hole to free them (IIRC - it's been years since I've seen the original).
How does this differ from the remake?

**Spoilers for Poseidon Adventure (TV) Remake**
Ship is overturned because of a terrorist set bomb-blast on one side of the hull. A second bomb on the other side was stopped before it went off. To escape, the survivors set off the second bomb once they reach the hull, blowing an "escape hatch"

If you need a villian to blow a hole in your ship so it will tip over and you can send 14 or so poorly drawn, boring characters scurrying for their lives call: 1-800-Generic-Terrorist

Pretty much.
I love how "terrorists" are the generic villains for everything now.
