Xavier and I missed the last Serenity showing in Omaha by 3 DAYS! . I would've posted my experience on a spoiler thread, but alas, I have no spoilers to post! We finished the series last night. Now we have to wait for the dvd or.....

...drive to Des Moines, Iowa (about three hours away) to catch it Thanksgiving night. He's up for it but I'm not sure I could stay awake after eating such a big meal.

Feel sorry for me. [Frown]

It was a good film, too.

(Sorry! [Wink] )

Do it.

No more excuses. [Wink]

Are there second run theaters in Omaha? That might be sooner than the DVD release.

The DVD's are being released way sooner than a typical theater release, as I understand it.

So that may not be true in this case.

I told you so! I told you so, Val! Remember when you asked whether you should wait to see the movie, and I said "no, it won't be in theaters by the time you're done with the DVDs?"

I wonder how many ticket sales were lost to people who were just waiting to watch the DVDs first.

I said the same thing to a few of my friends too, Tom. People just don't listen!
They all say they want the Serenity DVD but I was hoping for higher box office sales...

I don't know, Tom, the most common sentiment that I was hearing was: "It was a great movie! If you've seen the show that is. If you haven't seen the show, it was just mediocre."

I would rather see the show and then enjoy the movie on DVD, then to not see the show and not enjoy it in theatre and wonder what all the fuss was about.

Xav, that's not what I heard (except from some silly reviewers in the papers.) Tom's only seen the first episode (right?) and he liked it. pooka hadn't ever seen the show and she LOVED the movie. I could list other good no DVD/loved the movie experiences, but that might make Val feel bad. [Smile]

I'd totally drive 3 hours to see it though. [Big Grin]

I'd seen five or six early episodes of the show and think I was ok with the movie, but it's all my friends ever talk about.

Des Moines is slightly less than 2 hours from here. You're not a whole hour west of us are you?

Posted by Valentine014 (Member # 5981) on :

No, not an hour, but three hours had a slightly more dramatic effect than 2.5.

Tom: Yes, yes you did. *hang head in shame*

Anyone know when the DVD's coming out?

I saw the movie twice and loved it before finally buying Firefly. Then I loved it even more.
