How long does turkey take to spoil because I don't feel like making soup tonight. I am tired.

Syn, if it's thanksgiving turkey, then it's definitely still good.

I cooked it last tuesday...

Less than a week, stored in the fridge? Chow down.

Ok, I'll make turkey soup tomorrow... I have to shave all the meat off the bones and boil those bones and chop up these carrots and onions and celery.

It's still good. Or, if you don't think it's good anymore, send it to me, because I've been known to eat things that weren't always recommended. If you want to know just ask me, but prepared to be a little grossed out.

The news here said yesterday that if it was Thanksgiving turkey it wouldn't keep as long, since it sat out at room temperature for so long.

So eat at your own risk.

which is negligible, so long as you're immune system is in good shape.

I know I have a bad habit of eating food that has been left out for hours, sometimes overnight.

Personally I leave the meat on the bones when I make soup. I do mine in the crockpot and after about 2 hours on low, the meat is falling off on its own.

I find the unnecessary slaughter of completely innocent turkies to be inhumane and unjust. But if the turkies have broken some kind of law...they aren't innocent are they?

All you have to do is tape a fake gun to a turkies forehead and put it in a bank with a tape recorder around its neck. The tape should have previously recorded material that says, "Give me all the money or I'll cap this braude, see?"

This should be followed by background sounds, preferrably some sort of gun shot. If you don't have a gun, just play a scene from Scarface in the background.

But it's not completely unnecessary slaughter. Fish gotta swim, man gotta eat [Smile]

You're boiling up this turkey in a soup? You'll be safe -- the hot cooking temperatures will kill off any turkey nasties lurking in your bird.

Heh heh. I'm stealing that.

If turkeys were smart enough to commit crimes, I would be all for the devouring of executed birds. As it is, you can have a turkey dinner, guilt free...all you have to do is wait for a good rain storm.

My turkey dinners are always guilt free. I come from a long line of omnivores.

You're going to boil it again when you make soup, so I wouldn't worry about it too much.

From Goody, who stole it from Jerome Kern. [Big Grin]

Incidentally, that song has now been in my head since last night.

Actually, I was watching Finding Nemo when I posted that...

I wonder if it will keep until saturday. I really don't feel like making soup tonight.

Hmm
This turkey smells questionable...
