I'm writing out my wish list for my mother. Most of my present was in the form of paying this semester's tuition, but she said she's still like to get some little things. I'm thinking books.

Would any of you mind giving some recommendations? Here's what I have so far:

Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell
Saving Fish From Drowning by Amy Tan

I know there is a million others I want to add but I can't think of them!

What genre types do you enjoy?

I'm not too picky. I guess I will narrow it down to fiction only.

Everything is Illuminated - Jonathan Safran Foer

There're millions that I too'd like to add, but I'm drawing a blank.

Terry Pratchett's Discworld series to brighten your day. Very funny, very strange.
The Sea Hawk by, I believe, Rafael Sabatini, for some swashbuckling action.
Rebecca by Daphne duMaurier if you like romance and mystery and very good writing.
Ooooh! And The Woman in White by Wilkie Collins. It's really really long, especially in the beginning, but totally worth it in the end.

Ahhhh! There're so many....

Just finished The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova. I really liked it. I can't tell if the momentum slowed near the end or not because I wasn't able to read it for as extended periods of time as I'm used to, but I do know that I really liked it.
